Rakim doesn't step up like usual, makes his first two three's then goes 0-8 because he thinks off balance 25 footers are better than driving when he is stronger than anyone he matches up against. Then, somebody plays well in the first half and doesn't see the court in the second half because that's how Al likes to work.

In all fairness, Rakim has shot 48% over the last 4 games...what's pissed me off more is his 50% from the FT line and only getting there 10 times over that same span.

He's not getting to the line because he's not attacking the basket. His 3 point FG% has dropped 10% since freshman year- and he keeps shooting more each year.

If you've watched recent games, he has attacked the basket (but is still not getting to the line enough). The big difference is he's not firing up the long range 2's recently. That's why his shooting % has gone up despite his 3% being the same as it has been all year. This is the exact reason I've cited the last 4 games.
And actually he shot more 3's per game last year than he has so far this year.

No he hasn't.
Last year: 34 games, 144 attempts: 4.24/game
This year: 14 games, 62 attempts: 4.43/game (I'm not going to count the game he got hurt in because that is such an outlier. He got hurt 3 or 4 minutes into the game, nor will I count the one three pointer he took in that game)
commavegarage {l Wrote}:I have watched the last five games. The last three I've been at. (The first two were on the road). Saying he's been attacking the basket more is like saying we won by 25 instead of 24. Sure, it is an increase, but it has been so minimal it has barely been noticeable. I'm not going to say your statement is true or false because I don't have a shot chart and I'm not going to sit through his tape and see if this is indeed the case. All I know is he is still chucking up way too many threes and not driving to the basket nearly enough. And I'm not going to even touch his traffic cone style defense.
