The announcers were just shocked BC was that good.
BC ran Maryland that year.

The 2005-2006 BC team was the best team we'll ever field. It had 3 NBA players and at least 3 guys who are playing in pretty competitive leagues in Europe. If you meant that this year's BC team will advance further than the Sweet 16, well, that's possible although unlikely.

This team will be better. Mark it. And the best NBA player of all of them is currently on the team.

I'm going to go ahead and respectfully disagree. And I mean STRONGLY disagree. This year's team can't even hold a candle to the 2005-2006 team from a talent perspective. There's no way Rakim outproduces Dudley and Smith in the NBA. Like 0%. He's 6'5 and can't dribble. He's a nice college player but he's not NBA calibre. Not even close yet.
combined. The first two were the prototypical "college players" each of which is carving out a pro career as an 8th man, undersized and underathletic at his position,
is just a douche. Rakim will have a much better career than any of them by 10 fold. I just hope that now that the gratuitous ball hog is gone, he doesn't blow up so much this year that he leaves early.

MoMoneyBC wrote:We will see about that. Rakim has a lot more NBA potential than Smith or Dudley.

Explain why. I like Rakim but he's a 6'5 wing who can't dribble. Not a good enough handle to be a 2 and too small to be a 3. I could see him making it as a bench player based on his other skills and athleticism but that's it. Saying that Sanders has more pro potential than Dudley and Smith is basically saying that you think Sanders will eventually be an NBA starter. And I must say that's an absolute longshot.

Rakim Sanders will be on the Naismith watchlist this season, and a finalist next season. Dudley couldn't shoot, dribble or defend as a sophomore and improved, but you don't think Rakim Sanders will get any better? Jesus, are you OJ? If Rakim simply progresses as much as he did last off season (which by all accounts has occurred) and gets to touch the rock once in a while now that he has a PG instead of a fucking pop a shot master, he will be in the running for ACC POY.
Rakim Sanders is a 6'6'' shooting guard who needs to work on a couple of skills, just like Dudley had to. But he is an NBA athlete. Dudley is a CYO athlete.
And you need to recheck Dudley's contributions statistically. Rakim may only need to dress to be better than Dudley in the pros.

but it appears that he's got more common sense. I think Sanders will be pretty darn good and be the go-to guy this year.

Cadillac90 wrote:Not to speak for Teddy but you may have misunderstood his comments about Dudley's and Smith's pro career to date. No one is denying that they might be puttting up some stats but that is done with a hell of a lot more grit than pure basketball ability. I watch those two guys as much as I can and they look outmatched in the NBA but they are smart ballplayers and can make up for a lot of that. Rakim has that pure talent likebut it appears that he's got more common sense. I think Sanders will be pretty darn good and be the go-to guy this year.

MoMoneyBC wrote:So he has two years to improve his ballhandling... sounds do-able. If he does that, he becomes the complete package at the the sg position. Something that Dudley and Smith can't be at their respective positions. He has more potential.

all he really needs to do is want to.

We're not debating potential. I agree that Sanders has more due to his size and athleticism. We're talking actual NBA production. And it's not like he has to just add a crossover, et voila, he's a lottery pick. It's not that simple.
