Diploma Mill Alums Rejoice!

Postby claver2010 on Sat Oct 03, 2020 10:11 am

The Fordham Rams have added the Boston College Eagles to their 2025 football schedule, the school announced on Friday.

The Eagles will host the Rams on a to-be-scheduled 2025 date at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The sides have never faced off on the gridiron.

Fordham is part of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and the Patriot League. The Patriot League canceled its fall sports slate on July 13

The 2019 Rams went 4-8 (2-4 Patriot), dropping four of their final five.

The Rams become Boston College’s third home tilt in 2025. UMass (Sept. 6) and Notre Dame (TBA) will visit Alumni Stadium. The lone non-conference game for 2025 to take the Eagles on the road occurs Sept. 20, with a trek to East Lansing to visit Michigan State on the slate.

Problem with Jack Coffee is that if it rains they are going to have to play at JFK High School--won't be a problem with parking or seating, plenty of seats at Jack Coffey and JFK to meet the demand for a BC-Fordham tilt--but ESPN 10 is going to be really pissed when the field is declared unplayable the morning of the game and they have to load the four hand-held cameras and get it over to Spuyten Divel in time for kick off, let alone getting the play by play crew there--the Cross Bronx Expressway is miserable even on a Saturday Morning.

Honestly, if they want to do these "would have been a top ten match up in 1938" type games, they ought to bring back the old Saturday double headers from that era. BC-Fordham at Yankee Stadium for a Noon Kick Off followed by Army-Georgetown at 4:00 PM. They'll be serving alcohol, it'll be fantastic. Let them play for the Frank Cavanaugh Cup or the Iron Major Trophies. The Whale Pants will love it and we can spin it as a retro hipster thing for the youngsters and let them go to the game in ironic fedoras and fur coats.

Murt will there be a tailgate?

The swampy grass field has been replaced:

"FieldTurf replaced the grass field in 2005 while, behind home plate, other renovations during 2004 and 2005 included lights, new dugouts, as well as a new grandstand and press box for the baseball section of the facility. This section now goes by Houlihan Park, as the recognized home of the Fordham Rams baseball team.[2]

In 2014 Jack Coffey Field underwent further renovations including the addition of a full-color DakTronics video scoreboard beyond the Southern Boulevard endzone as well as chair back seating between the 40 yard lines. FieldTurf surface was also replaced with FieldTurfTM." :ace

Logi would have a better chance of becoming AngryDicks cousin at Dorrian’s than Fordham University’s Lot A. Besides, Fordham Prepsters are far less inclined these days to date Jenny from the Block which means Dick would more likely be found at the Hayes- Mt. St. Michael game. Ever since they banned ringing the bell after Xavier victories because of the fights in the 90s and Coach Bott retired, the real alums stopped going.

So you are saying that the Prepsters have become even more unmanly. I have no respect for any guy who wouldn’t accept an expertly administered bj from some Latina from Mt St Ursula.

The tailgate for this game will occur at the Stepinac Correctional Facility in White Plains, NY. First, because Stepinac probably has more football talent than the Fordham Rams and watching the collection of curated talent they have assembled pound on Monroe-Woodbury or Saugerties will be almost as interesting as a BC-Fordham tilt. Plus, the bus ride from White Plains isn’t really much worse than the satellite lots at BC games.

You would be hard pressed these days to find an AMSU student living north of McLean Avenue. Thus Prepsters need to explore those proclivities in New Rochelle or Port Chester or perhaps Saunders Trades and Technical. You used to achieve similar results at OLGC, but then they closed.

OLGC? Do you mean Our Lady of Victory? Because the closing of OLV was a tragedy for any young Catholic male between the ages of 14 and 18 looking for an easy score from a morally casual guidette from Yonkers or Eastchester. As for where the MSA Jennies from Around The Block all live, assuming that they do not go north of McLean Avenue—and frankly, back in the day it was rare to find one north or Crestwood or Mount Vernon West, so I don’t think their northern range has shrunk by much—don’t today’s prepster head down to McLean Heights for no hassle underage drinking? Or in any of the Provo-run Irish bars on Gun Hill Rd? That is where you used to find those creatures (when we weren’t car jacking undercover cops and getting killed for our troubles). Today’s Prep never fails to disappoint. If I lived in Toughchester today, I’d send my kids to Stepinac, where they’d at least learn to shank someone in a pinch.

OLGC = Good Counsel

Will you be hosting a tailgate for EO?

This potential tailgate is just pretense for Logi to make another run at joining AngryDick’s extended family.

Zing! :ace

That reference was so gleefully specific I spit out my water.

The underage haunts of choice these days are MUGZs and Howl at the Moon, both on Arthur Avenue. The Jolly Tinker was sold by its Irish immigrant firefighter owner and now is more akin to the Dexter Lake Club than The Tam. Beechmont got bought by a bunch of Toughchester guys who were wise to some of the more creative ways of underage imbibing there and so that is no more either and best left to the disciples of Rick Pitino. I was surprised to learn from my younger cousins that these days they usually just go to the city.

Good Ole' JP Cooney. Class of 88. He was more of a class clown jackass--the guy who was so perpetually in JUG that Baisley actually kind of liked him--never would have made him for a would be carjacker. He was not a bad guy. Always nice to the class below--my class--and was always good for showing you ways to cut corners or get around JUG-related shit. It makes sense he was on his way to St. Johns--that seemed to be the destination of choice for the Bronx kids who fucked up in school just enough that they couldn't slip them into Fordham, or down a rung, Manhattan. St Johns or Iona was the next tier and that sounds about right for JP. Bootan and Katanic were nerds--I don't know where they had ultimately been admitted, but I would not have been surprised if it was BC, Georgetown, Holy Cross, ND or the like. Florio was a small mouthy type always running his mouth about his connections--I didn't know about the judge but he also claimed to be related to a Congressman in New Jersey who I assume was/is Jim Florio, who later became the Governor. Moniyhan was different. I had a couple of rich Pelham Manor kids in my section and they were friends with him. I was at a social at Holy Child where he jacked up a kid from Iona Prep, so he couldn't have been all bad.

I had departed the Prep by the time he got killed, but I remember the day after it happened like it was yesterday. I was riding the Metro North into the city to my summer job and it was front page of the Post. My Old Man, who Logi has spent time with and probably knows the tenor and tone, after cross examining me on whether I knew JP, basically lectured me on making sure that I didn't end up "a dead imbecile" or "a pussy moron" dumping my buddy's body in the cattails under the Whitestone Bridge. There was also a warning about my proclivity towards Latinas and how I was going to catch a "switchblade" in the ribs from an angry brother or boyfriend and that nothing good happens in the Bronx after dark. I was very happy when we reached GCT and I ran off on my merry way.

My condolences on OLGC. I forgot all about Good Counsel. Can't say I ever partook from that dating pool. What was that particular student body like?

So my connections inform me that Barry Bootan and Jason Katanic went to jail. Bootan still lives in the Bronx with his Mom and dad and works in a machine shop. Katanic is a more interesting story. Somehow, through various and sundry Prep connections he was eventually hired as--I shit you not--a firearms instructor for the NY Department of Connections. It eventually leaked to the press and he lost the gig. He died a few years ago of a heart attack--he was apparently morbidly obese.

My recollection of Moniyhan was apparently wrong--that was somebody else--trying to find out what happened to him.

Up until probably the 80s, if your son went to Fordham Prep, your daughter probably went to AMSU. These days not so much.

To add to Logi's summary of OLGC, its important to note that while affluent, they were the girls who couldn't quite get into Holy Child or Ursuline. If your son went to Stepinac, your daughter probably went to OLGC. We used to flip off the Stepinac guys from the other side of the train tracks (since they were going north and we south) while simultaneously oggling the OLGC girls who you could count on for a good time, but probably would not marry.

Paging Murt, Paging Murt... :ace

This is an important addition and one I debated going back to give further clarification which Murt has taken care of.

You would not have known the OLGC girls because they had a very tight almost incestuous relationship with Stepinac (Murt's description is on target). Whereas, the Ursuline girls although by proximity were closest to Iona Prep (and even cheered for them) they were more inline with Fordham Prep guys over Iona Prep dagos (i can say that) and the Holy Child girls were exclusive property of the Prep.

The OLGC ladies fell into none of our categories. They did not belong to our beach/golf clubs, didn't do charity work with us, heck they didn't even appreciate being bought a good blouse after a night out. :ace
