you're foolish if you think 18 - 21 year olds are going to act differently than any 18 - 21 year olds that came before them. kids are going to look for booze and drugs and naked body parts of their preferred naked gender. covid isn't going to change that and to think so is nospacian levels of stupid
Practice Notes: True freshman wide receiver Taji Johnson has been able to get a large amount of reps this preseason and the Georgia native has made the most of his opportunities. The 6’3” newcomer made the play of the day on Tuesday, snaring a one-handed touchdown reception on a dime thrown by Jurkovec. The offense poured onto the field to celebrate the big play. Johnson signed with BC last December and enrolled last January and had five practices under his belt in the spring prior to this preseason camp … redshirt freshman tight end Spencer Witter has shown some promise this preseason as he has continued to get more looks during team work. The West Hartford, Conn., native redshirted last year and looks to be in the mix for playing time in 2020 for the Eagles … redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Johnson made a great throw in the red zone to sophomore wide receiver Ethon Williams to setup a touchdown … true freshman defensive tackle Cam Horsley came up with an interception off a deflected pass during team period on Tuesday … stop if you heard this before, but sophomore wide receiver Zay Flowers was on the receiving end of another long, downfield completion from Jurkovec on Tuesday … sophomore defensive end Shitta Sillah had a sack during team work.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Johnson connected on a 30-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Jaelen Gill in the corner of the end zone. Gill had a big day receiving as he connected on several first down completions with sophomore quarterback Phil Jurkovec as well … redshirt freshman defensive tackle Izaiah Henderson had a sack during team period … Jurkovec looked comfortable in the pocket Thursday throwing to several targets, including a nice gain over the middle to sophomore tight end Joey Luchetti … redshirt freshman running back Pat Garwo ripped off a long run during 11-on-11 action … sophomore wide receiver Zay Flowers showed again his ability to get downfield and behind the secondary on a long 40-yard reception from Jurkovec. Flowers and Gill also showed some excellent vision with the ball in their hands in the open field as well … junior quarterback Dennis Grosel connected with sophomore wide out Ethon Williams on a perfectly timed ball in traffic … senior linebacker John Lamot blew a play up behind the line of scrimmage for the first-team defense … redshirt freshman safety Jalen Williams made a nice play in center field to pick off an errant pass during team period … Jurkovec and Gill teamed up for three completions in one period, including a big play down the sideline … junior tight end Hunter Long grabbed a touchdown reception from Jurkovec as well … sophomore linebacker Nick DeNucci got into the backfield for a TFL while sophomore cornerback Josh DeBerry and senior safety Mike Palmer each had a pass breakup during 11-on-11 work … safety Deon Jones forced a field goal with a stop on third down in the red zone … true freshman defensive tackle Cam Horsley and junior defensive end Marcus Valdez teamed up for a sack Thursday … junior running back David Bailey busted loose for a 20-yard run during team work … practice ended with the offense versus the defense on a two-point conversion to win the game. The defense got the upper hand this time as sophomore cornerback Elijah Jones had a pass breakup in the end zone.
Sophomore quarterback Phil Jurkovec is 6’5” and 227 pounds, but do not let his size fool you that he is not a mobile quarterback. The Pittsburgh native showed tremendous ability to escape the pocket during team periods and hurt the defense with his legs. Jurkovec showed off his ability to drop the football in a tight window on several throws to junior tight end Hunter Long Saturday. Long looks primed for a big season in the passing game for the Eagles … easily the play of the day and one of the top plays of preseason camp came from sophomore wide receiver Ethon Williams. The Maryland native made a diving, one-handed grab from junior quarterback Dennis Grosel. Williams has been one of the most reliable, consistent targets in the passing game all camp … Buffalo graduate transfer Chibueze Onwuka has been active all preseason and was again today during the scrimmage periods. He had a sack to stop the offense in the red zone and teamed up with defensive end Marcus Valdez for a TFL as well … the longest field goal of the day belonged to New Mexico transfer Stephen Ruiz, who split the uprights from 43 yards out … junior running back David Bailey showed great acceleration and burst on a 20-yard run. He has noticeably slimmed down under the watch of strength and conditioning head coach Phil Matusz and looks ready for a big 2020 campaign … senior running back Travis Levy also made several plays both on the ground and as a receiver Saturday. Levy has shown to be one of the most versatile threats on the team … senior defensive lineman Bryce Morais had a crunching tackle-for-loss to stop a running back in his tracks … the offense looked to have a big play as redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Johnson hit a streaking Jaelen Gill in stride over the middle, but the play was negated due to penalty … junior linebacker Paul Theobald scooped up a fumble while senior safeties Mike Palmer and Deon Jones both tallied an interception … true freshman defensive back Kam Arnold came across the middle for a pass breakup.
NJM89 {l Wrote}:Our WR room is crazy good this year. Could potentially be one of the best ever. Ethon Williams could end up being the most productive by years end for how he is producing in camp right now. Taji Johnson the freshman as well has been having a great camp he can go up and get it. Gill, Flowers and Kobay when he gets healthy will be fun to watch. Hopefully we actually have a coach that will run something besides jet sweeps to our wideouts this year and let Jurk air it out.
