The positives here are that his rating in high school was great and that there are a lot of local school and AAU connections

Anecdotally though, the couple of times I saw him play he struggled immensely
I look forward to being called stupid for expressing the above thought.

I assume he has to sit out a year?

Actually, having just learned about the existence of the younger brother, this makes a lot of sense

immensely might be an overstatement. he was comfortably their 3rd / 4th best guard this year.

my recollection is highly ranked recruit, overbearing father

zagoria with some quotes from the father / aau coach:

https://www.zagsblog.com/2019/07/02/mak ... n-college/

“We have a long term relationship with Coach [Scott] Spinelli,” DeMarr Langford said. “I played for him at Winchendon in the 90’s. Coach [Jim] Christian was really authentic about his expectations and his goals for BC and how Makai could fit right in.
“Makai will bring leadership, toughness, ball-handling, decision-making and with a year off to perfect that shot and see the game from the sidelines, the sky’s the limit to help to put BC back on the map nationally in a great conference.”
The 6-foot-3 Worcester, Mass., native and former UConn commit will sit one year to play two. He averaged 3.7 points and 2.3 assists last season.
“He loves the coaches, it’s close to home, it’s in the ACC and it’s a great school,” Mass Rivals coach Vin Pastore said. “He’s a true point guard who makes his teammates better and an elite defender and finisher at the rim.”

going through their website they put ~3 kids into p5 / big east programs a year

There are some coaches I would trust with these reclamation projects. Jimmy MAC isn't one of them.
"I have history, and I understand history, so I know where we’ve been and where we are, and where we are trying to go, okay? But it’s been somewhere between 6.5 and 6.6 wins a year since 1980, which is 38 years. We’re at 7..."

I watched him play a lot. Cooley needs PG's who are high volume scorers (Dunn, Cotton), thats not MAL. This year was magnified because they had nothing around him that was a consistent scoring threat and offensively they were boring as hell (Reeves hurt for stretch, Duke was only ok, everyone else was blah).

He can definitely come in and run an offense, and paired with Tabbs (and not having the pressure to score in high quantity) could certainly be an effective game manager type (ie Hinnant when he was here). As long as BC isn't reliant on him for major scoring, Id much rather take a former top 100 with some Big East experience than some flyer project to waste a scholarship on.

The younger Langford brother got offered this past week. Seems to be the favorite ever since we got his brother. Top 100 on multiple sites. With that said this has been the worst offseason when it comes to sending out offers. Feel like we have no one with us on their radar besides him

Carter Whitt and Jordan Geronimo are two others to watch both have OVs set up.

The appeal is that he's 7 feet tall, can supposedly shoot, we have zero centers on the roster after this year, and he plays for the same AAU team as a couple other guys we really want

case desmithed

He looked like he would end up at Bonnies a month ago, but then Schmidt backed off. My guess is Schmidt saw a P5 offer coming and because at Saint Bonnies he will sit behind Ossuniyi for two years. Of course, if he had gone to Bonnies he would have almost certainly played in back to back NCAA tournaments, which will obviously not happen at BC.

He's listed as 215lbs. Shouldn't he be heavier to play center in this conference?

MAL's brother DeMarr (top 100) is taking his official visit this weekend, teammate jordan geronimo (top 100) will be taking official visit in a couple of weeks. them plus vander baan are all part of mass rivals.

i don't know who started greasing palms for the local aau circuit but keep it coming

Is this the first big recruit in three years? 6'7" PF's and 6'8" SF's don't count.

Top 6 for 2021 5 star Terrence Clarke with Kentucky, Duke, et al. Did we find new boosters that can pay with the big boys?

He's ranked #3 in the country and he's making his decision on September 14th.

Considering reclassifying to 2020. I can't imagine BC winning this one, but fun for a few weeks anyway.

Clarke is from Dorchester. At some point we are due to grab one of these kids that wants to stay local and make a name for himself locally.
