How about the Billikens?
b0mberMan {l Wrote}:5 wins this year is fine. Ideally I'd like to see us in a bowl game and I don't think getting that 6th win is too much of a stretch, but everyone here has their expectations somewhere in the 4-7 range going into the season, I think.
My concern is where does Daz go from here? When they get the dual-threat QB they want, does that improve the offense? Or do we see something akin to what Temple did last year? How do they build momentum? Don Brown is an old man - who does Daz get to replace him? Do we see ourselves plateauing at 7-8 wins a year? That's respectable, but is that a "great" hire or just a pretty good hire? We all wanted more from TOB when he was here, so I'd expect that after 3-4 years of recruiting, we'd like to start to see more from Addazio.
Everything else you've pointed to - enthusiasm, early recruiting returns, etc. - is nice, but its window dressing if results don't show up on the field. So far, those results are nice, but it's up against an FCS team and a fellow cellar-dweller ACC team.

Gonna pull and HJS and say man, I had some good thinking when this thread started

I might be in the minority here, but I don't think Addazio has done a poor job at BC. He's really upgraded the talent level and brought BC back to a reasonable level. He's just not your guy to go from 6-7 wins to 9-10 wins.

i dont think he was a poor hire. hes mediocre. most in the prediction thread when he was hired said he would be terribly mediocre. which he has been.
i guess my question is more the opportunity cost - was there really that big of a risk of hiring someone else and them continuing the trajectory spaz had us on (i dont think so but theres no way to know for sure). i dont think diaco wouldve failed as spectacularly as he did at uconn here. but you never know.
i think we are in a very similar situation to that at the end of toby - the right hire could rocketship this thing back to the 10-2 seasons. he gets credit for that. the longer he stays and doesn't make the jump to 9+ win seasons, the worse the hire looks

I would argue he was a good hire for the dumpster fire situation that we were in. he brought us back to respectability. I just don't think he has what It takes to get us to the next level. some people here don't like the excuses he makes but if we were winning 9-10 games a year, I can guarantee you no one but TRE (who doesn't even like sports) would be posting a peep about that.

when you are going 10-2 and complaining about things that prevent you from 11-1 or 12-0 (which would almost certainly be a berth in the final 4), its a whole lot different than bitching and moaning as you go 7-5 in year 6.
yes, nick saban or dabo swinney can complain about anything they see fit.

b0mberMan {l Wrote}:Honestly, its his lack of a plan b that infuriates me. It's clear that they hoped to never have to play the backup QB and had no idea what to do when they reached that situation.
We saw this in 2015, but it was kind of glossed over because it wasn't his fault that the position was so thin. But really more questions should've been asked about the "let them alternate series and see if something happens" approach when it was still all we had 3 weeks after Wade got hurt.

if they extend him he becomes jarmond's hc. because he's gonna get to 6-7 wins next year. if people are hoping for a bottoming out (4 or less wins), its not happening. never going to be easier to fire him than now, not for the next couple of years at least.

Didn't Jarmond just extend JC for losing in the first round of the NIT?
durkcal {l Wrote}:I think Daz comes back. But i think next year will be a 4 or 5 win season. We lose a lot of good players. The defense will give up 40 a game to decent teams, and Daz's predictable run oriented offense has never been able to get above 21 against those types.
