When was the last time Daz really bungled a major game management issue?
I don't get the Never-Daz people. I'm not saying you have to be sold on him, but too many of you are stuck in 2015.
IN my view, football coaches are stubborn and arrogant, and often put on personas that are even more stubborn and arrogant than even they are internally, because somehow they think is essential to leading men and so forth. This collection of attributes also makes coaches very frail (which is why even accomplished and excellent coaches - the Sabans and Belichicks and Parcells - often have major problems with reporters and media; they aren't accustomed to being questioned, especially about what they do poorly).
Coaches don't really admit mistakes and don't often learn from their own mistakes; as such, coaches really only change when they change jobs. Sometimes not even then.
This whole 'Daz has learned and changed' narrative is a pile of horseshit - Daz is exactly what he was before and he will revert to it again. Solid at things like evaluating talent, recruiting, and WWF ring-entrances while cranking Nickelback and the Pointer Sisters, etc; terrible at tactical game day decisions and risk assessment. He has been playing to his strengths for much of the past, say 10 games and it works because the team reflects those strengths. When coaches have a team that reflects their strengths, it minimizes the amount of critical decisions and adjustments they have to make - thus the legend of the 'genius coach' is born. Really none of these guys are geniuses - the ones who can plan well and accrue talent and coaching that executes on the planning will win shit tons of games. But it's mostly about preparation and patience at every level.
At some point in this season, Daz will be challenged out of his comfort zone, will have to make a decision, and he will do some dumb donkey crap move like he has done in the past with time or game or personnel management, and on that day, the fries will march into the ketchup like so many lemmings stepping steadfastly towards the cliff.
The ACC is actually vulnerable this year and I would be wearing my 10-2 t shirt if, say, Steve Logan was at the controls. Daz is kind of a bald Moe Howard.
