You have got to love these annual college football publications and the "logic" they provide.
Athlon Sports released their annual to the shelves today. So I took a look at their "objective analysis" of Boston College. Of course, they said that of the now 6 seasons Addazio has been head coach, this season (his sixth, wow its been that long) looks to be his best. They rated this team (what with all its 15 returning starters) as the best he has ever coached anywhere since he has been a head coach. That is not the part I found humorous. It was this:
- Out of 14 ACC teams, BC was rated #2 at running back trailing only FSU
- BC was rated #1 on the offensive line given 5 returning starters and a possible Outland winner at Chris Lindstrom
- The have the #5 rated defensive line out of 14 (very nice, well above average by ACC standards)
- they have the #5 rated defensive backfield out of 14(also very nice)
- And at linebacker, they are ranked #6, better than average
...and YET,
BC is rated just 5th out of 7 in the ACC Atlantic, a team they predict will go 6-6 (3-5 in conference.) Sigh. Yes, that is exactly how bad they evaluate BC at the head coach, QB, and the wide receiver positions. Either that, or what they are saying is completely illogical.
I believe in the 2018 team. I don't believe in the coach, but I believe in this team. They sold me last year. The coach I want fired. This team could challenge Clemson. This team (with a REAL coach) would beat Clemson.
