Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:We have a new OC and a new DC to break in and essentially whether or not it's Wade, a new QB to break in. The offense has to improve a lot to get to 7 wins. Just because the games were close last year does not mean that some improvement (7 ppg) leads to any more wins. The ACC Atlantic teams will all improve this year as well. I'm worried what level the defense can attain without Don Brown. The GT game is huge, a win over Tech could get them to 7. A loss, followed by a loss to VT and they are 0-2 in the conference with a ten game conference losing streak hanging over their heads.

Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:Superfan: Except for the fact that we lost to all of those teams last season. It's a help to us that VT and SU are also breaking in new QB's and OC's, but we're the winless team that has the most ground to make up. Remember for all your SU bashing, Daz is 1-2 against them. I really hope that last season was a fluke, but if Daz does not stay away from the offense this program is in huge trouble short term. Long term if Daz fails we bring back Don Brown as HC.
twballgame9 {l Wrote}:Ha, if BC doesn't win 7 games with this shitty schedule, it is an utter failure.
PS probably should have won 6 last year, with no QB or OLine.

What does last year, or BC's record vs. Syracuse the last 3 years, have to do with anything ? The injury situation was unprecedented and its hardly fair to take anything from last year. I don't make a habit of SU bashing, nor did I do so in my previous post, so Im not really sure where you're going with that, but again, I don't see how them coming from behind to win 2 games at home and getting throttled on the road @ BC means anything for this upcoming season.
My only comment was in regards to your suggestion that the schools on the schedule are all going to be magically better when most are facing the same dynamics in terms of roster/coaching turnover that you attribute as a deficiency to BC (the only difference being they avoided losing players at every offensive position of note which allowed them to win a few more games in conference last season).
Also, Don Brown coming back here as HC is about as conceivable as your magical new basketball arena and sports complex on the synagogue land.
eagle9903 {l Wrote}:The OOC is comically bad (of course), but the in conference could cut a bunch of ways. Since i like BC sports and want the football team to win games, I would prefer the Syracuse and Va Tech game to be as early as possible so that they are still suffering from massive schematic changes. I think the OOC gimmes play out in a way that will prevent abandoning all hope even if BC loses to Gtech, Va Tech and Clemson, but if they lose those three and Cuse, you can call the Sarge era (he probably won't actually get fired, but should).
What's kind of funny is that if Sarge beats Gtech, he can coast to an on paper acceptable season.

That UMass game, at noon, after flying back from Dublin is the trapiest of all trap games. I know UMass sucks but that one concerns me.

Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:BC was really bad last season on offense led by horrible play calling and horrible game plans by Daz. Don Brown was the only positive in the whole program and he is gone. DB coming back as HC should the job open is a natural fit and he will be strongly considered. Just because the games were close last year does not mean they will be close this year. We all know the competition and any decent coaching staff has to prepare to face better teams this year. The problem is not the competition, it's BC themselves. GT, VT, SU, NC St, Wake are not good programs, but they are playing on a higher level than BC today. All of the OOC teams suck, but so does BC heading into this season. It does not mean that there will not be significant improvement and a winning season, but the problems run deeper than the injuries. That is why the new OC and DC and Daz staying away from both sides of the ball is key to this program succeeding or imploding. Losing to Wake and SU last year are red flags. I really hope we crush many of the teams on the schedule, but there is a lot of improvement needed in a short period of time. One sign of a good coach is that his team is better in Nov than in Sept., that has not been the case with Daz.

I think I may have said this before, but don't care really either way. If the offense is better, the defense will be statistically worse regardless because we won't have 3/4 of a season of the other team running out the clock.

It was a first down. First down means run up the middle. No exceptions: exceptions are for losers and dudes aren't losers!
