It smells and tastes like Pine-Sol.
A gin & tonic made well is OK, but straight gin is harsh.
A well made gin and tonic has vodka in it, that's why
I enjoy a gin and tonic on an airplane. I never, ever drink gin and tonic (or any other gin drink) on the ground. But if I'm at 7000 feet and want to have a drink or two, 95% of the time I'll go with a G&T.
(Note I said "a drink or two", meaning that this applies to domestic flights only. If I'm on an overseas flight I will be having more than one or two, and my spirit of choice is either Jack and Coke or Jameson on the rocks, depending on my mood and that particular airline's selection.)
