In the laundry list of dumb decisions last night that wasn't the dumbest but it wasn't smart
Go for it
Maybe one of the DBs sneezes on a receiver and the flag comes out
I guess I'm one of the few people here who didn't assume we had the game won before we got on the plane earlier this week, so I'm taking this a little better than most. But on offense, the things in order that got me pissed off were:
1) Not seeing any of the Murphy offense out there. Honestly, just one package, nothing major. But why not give Smith a chance to run
2) The whole clock management thing at the end of the half. It was less bad, but still pretty bad (btw, I think in Nororious Orange's dumb thread I called that as soon as we had expectations things like Daz's clock management skills were going to drive us nuts. I get a cookie).
3) No Flutie.
4) No short passes. We ran a bubble screen to Robinson in the 4th and I had one of this "oh neat. That looks like something we could pick up yards with. Where has that been?"
5) While punting didn't really drive me nuts, I think the 3rd down play call annoyed me because it wasn't a high percentage play, didn't help us pick up any yards, and seemed like we weren't treating it as 4 down territory. If they had chunked off 6 yards, say, then I would've wanted to see us go for it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression was we threw (or tried to throw) for the sticks on 3rd down.
