In today's shoot-first-aim-later twitter environment where an OJ-like "rush to judgment" is in comparison an eternity, I am sure this will predictably blow-up as a major news story much like the terrible Dez Bryant video that likely doesn't exist. That said, in any other environment, I don't think Duke's handling of this matter is necessarily problematic. It is an allegation that was not raised to authorities at the University or to any law enforcement. Instead, it came to light from statements made to fellow students. It is not unconscionable for Duke, who has seen its fair share of life-ruining false sexual assault allegations, to require a little more evidence (or witness cooperation) before publicly saddling a kid as a predator.
