While it's not a particularly strong argument for him, I feel most fans fail to recognize that struggling in your first shot at the big time can sometimes be a net positive in the long run as a coach learns what NOT to do.
As previously stated I am still in the Howland camp. I acknowledge that HJS was the first I saw to mention his name here or elsewhere. And since then I haven't seen anything to dissuade my opinion that he is an attainable big name for alma mater.

Amaker is Paul Hewitt light. He cant coach at all. Unless you're going to hire Pearl or Howland I suppose, I'd prefer to just make Donahue hire a new staff and move forward.

If Nahue is here one more hour than the end of the season, moving forward is exactly what I am going to do. Move forward to root for a real college basketball program.

Actually, a search for Howland shows that you first referenced him in back in 2010 to replace Al.
Are you HJS?

So 1 of 2 coaches and if not hire new assistants and hope for the best? This is horrible even for you.

You'd really prefer Amaker to Donahue?

These other options are horrible, even for this pathetic athletic department

Quite possibly the worst post ever.
ATLeagle {l Wrote}:I am anti-Amaker but think he is probably the favorite given all the issues. There are a lots of names out there and I will start profiling some of them soon. Coen's poor season has sunk his chances. I think Hopkins and O'Shea are legit candidates. Howland is such a layup that if BC doesn't hire him, you know that we went cheap and that the BOT doesn't care about being great. Just being better than we currently are.
DavidGordonsFoot {l Wrote}:I'm scared shitless that BC is going to hire Amaker. He's the worst case scenario hire - he'll graduate players and do enough on the court not to get fired, but he'll never give the fans anything to get excited about. It'll be a long run of 7th place finishes in the ACC, which may sound good now, but will get old quick.

This, exactly, unless he hires a terrific in-game bench coach

I don't agree at all. I think he will bring in excellent talent and miserably undercoach it to a 7th place finish, but it will be fun to watch.

So... basically... he is what we were all saying about Dazoo when his name was floated as a replacement for Spaz.
