Technically Brooklyn is still part of Long Island, along with Queens.

Apparently the Rangers have called their players back from Europe

I'm not getting my hopes up too much this time around. Been teased quite a great deal the last month or so.

And it would be f'n hilarious if Steve Burton scooped everyone.

It's funny that when you take the two biggest assholes (Betman and Fuckface Fehr) out of the equation some significant progress is made. Maybe it is time for Betman to move on to other opportunities.

Yeah it was an extremely sloppy game with shoddy goaltending and very little physical play. Basically a glorified game of shinny.

Some Eagle on Eagle crime with Orpik absolutely laying the hammer on Kreider in a beautiful open ice. Keep your head up coming across the blue line kid. That's when D are taught to step up.

Interesting game last night. The Rangers played like a machine for 50 minutes and then played absolutely shittastic the last 10 minutes or so. One minute it looked like Lundqvist would be renewing his lease inside the B's collective heads and the next minute he looked like he couldn't see the puck--the play off the chest on Ferrence's weak slapper from the blueline was awful--regardless of whether Lucic hand passed the rebound or not (replay seemed pretty clear he did, but you can't be allowing that play to develop in the first place). Kreider looked pretty solid last night--played strong on his skates and excellent positional hockey. Enjoyed watching him bury Lucic once and then stand him up at the blue line twice--I think his strength may be overlooked because he is so fluid and fast.

And the shootout format sucks. Let them play the OT and that is it. I'll take the 2 points and I enjoyed watching Captain America finish it off (after a filthy move by Nash and a laser beam from Marchand to stave off defeat, for a moment), but its a gimmick and too soccer-esque for any real American's tastes.

As you said, after the first 50 last night and with Sundays game was starting to see them really put it together, those final 10 were brutal though

Probably because he played in Columbus but now after watching him every night, holy shit what Nash can do on the ice. The size speed combo is unbelievable

Marchand unleashed an absolute laser in the shoot out but the skills competition to decide a winner is incredibly dumb

I assume Torts has the team skating for 10 hours straight after coughing up that lead. B's shouldn't have gotten out of there with a point.

The last 10 minutes of last night were a perfect encapsulation of why Tort's retarded vendetta against Boyle is counterproductive and hurts the team. It would have been nice last night to have someone who can actually win a defensive zone draw or body up big forwards crashing the net. When the corpse of Jeff Halpern is being sent out to try and win a critical defensive draw, it is a pretty good indication that Torts fucked up in a big way.

I must admit, I am losing my religion with respect to Torts. I think he lucked into a Stanley Cup in Tampa and I think he was completely outcoached by the Devil's closet case coach in last year's playoffs. He also seems to have a Keenan-esque penchant for playing head games and some his roster moves and lines make no sense.

The problem with the condensed schedule is that games are so close, meaning you're going to want to save guys legs, which in turn means little to no bag skates as you'll probably want to work on more specific areas where your team is lacking. That and there's a quick turnaround with a game against the Isles on Friday. Actually, on second thought, they probably won't need much of their legs for that game.

Not sure about Torts but Julien typically eases up on the team when they're in the midst of a losing streak and rides them harder when they're doing well. My guess is he can do that due to all the leaders within the B's locker room from Chara on down to Thornton. Not sure if the Rags have the same dynamic and I get the sense that Torts is a little more batshit psycho than Julien, but just something I found interesting.

So Torts scratches Kreider last night and the Rangers look slow and tired the whole night. Why, in God's name, does anyone think Powe is anything other than a situational fill-in. He makes Stu Bickel look like a fast skater.

He was sent down and then brought back up. I have had it with Torts. Whatever merits he has as a coach, he is terrible at developing talent. As the Rangers have actually stockpiled some young talent and look to be built for the next five years, they need someone who can develop it. I am now openly rooting for a collapse/rebellion circa the 92-93 Rangers when Messier and crew stopped playing for Roger Nielsen in order to get someone in there who could actually coach to the talent they had.

Tort is what happens when you put a greasy no-talent with a massive chip on his shoulder in charge. To the extent Slats is still a sentient being, he must think that Richards has enough respect in the locker room to keep the obviously crumbling morale from collapsing. Problem with that theory is that Richards has grossly underachieved this year despite getting long stretches riding shotgun with Nash and Gaborik.
