Is this CONFIRMED???
eagle9903 {l Wrote}:i'll admit Frye could end up being the RB coach or something and Rogers role might end up being assistant HC, but those guys are coming to/returning to BC as far as I can tell.
Mod34b {l Wrote}:Chuck Heater is 60 years old and presided over the nation's #92 defense last year.
With Heater and Day - "The Hot Day Duo" -- BC is getting real crap.
This just keeps going down hill. Only silver lining is that McGovern is presumably gone.
Heater, a Michigan Man like foolish Mr. Bates, does have stops at major successful programs. But none of those programs are calling for Chuck anymore..So, of course, like Tranq and Spaz, he has come to BC.
How are our young recruits going to relate to an old fart DC like Heater? Is he going to show them a picture of Bo Schembeckler (sp??).. and the kids will say:
WTF!
cvilleagle {l Wrote}:I feel like the staff hires are much more negative news than the head coaching hire. There was still room for Addazio to flourish by bringing in high quality coordinators, letting them do their thing, and focusing on CEO/recruiting stuff. Now, not so much.

Heater was a candidate for the Clemson DC job last year. He has also done a decent job at Temple. The retreads are terrible.

He was good in 2011, very good (#11)
But something went wrong last year (#92) Not a very decent job in 2012.
We are more likely getting Chuck Heater 2012 then Chuck Heater 2011. Heater, of course, went from defending against MAC opponents to BE (and future ACC) opponents. Big drop off in results. If Heater is bollixed by BE opponents, I am concerned about his ability to deal with ACC
But what you point out - he was a Candidate for Clemson - is certainly a positive indicator. I did not know that.

You want to know what went wrong? Temple moved to the Big East and suddenly played better talent

I wonder how much of a budget there is to pay the staff. There was an interesting interview this morning on ESPN radio with Bret Bielema who just took the Arkansas job. One of the reasons he gave for leaving Wisconsin after winning three consecutive B1G championships was that Wisconsin had a $300K max for assistant salaries. He said he felt frustrated when he lost so many ass coaches, who left sometimes for three times the money. The SEC throws a lot more money at coaches. So if Leahey only wants to pay chump change for ass coaches, don't be surprised at what you get.
