No fucking chance I pay a dime to see that team play after this shit. Wake me for the next National Search so we can speculate all over and get Ryan Day. In the meantime, my aluminium will be unoccupied.

And I have no idea why people say this is a safe hire. Is this because every one is on the retarded ATL Ryan Day is teh awesome bandwagon?

Any thoughts on where the EO adsales donation should go?

No chance it goes to general Flynn Fund. Im on the verge of giving it to Pikes Peak to keep it out of the universities hands entirely (they don't seem to need anymore cash), but supporting the only athletic team that matters anymore.

Let me speculate on what may have happened -- Diaco and Golden etc probably talked up what a rebuilding job it would be. Adazzio probably walked in said Day and Rogers talked about what talent there is on the BC squad and that he knows what to fix. He probably said they'd make a bowl next year. If I'm on the hiring committee, I'm going to find the guy who promises a bowl with what we got to the guy who wants to make it clear he's going to need 5 years before hitting .500.
the fact that he is Italian and has a 'stache are not correlated to Spaziani like performance. Even if Fla fans hated his guts, they did wins two NCs - he must have had a freakin' clue of some sort (I know, I know, I probably said the same thing about Bollman). Look, we were a crap show this year and need to get better. The one big positive I see form this is a real chance for Rettig to shine next year with some semblance of continuity - some weird, type of continuity.

Maybe that crazy fucker Lively is right about Leahy? Hell, I think I'd rather have Kevin Gillbride than Frank Addazio (TM The New and Improved TRE).

In my think positive reaction to this, I did like this tidbit from Temple's last post game release - Spaz would have just run the kid off for good:

Addazio also singled out Brown as a senior who he’s built a relationship with. Addazio disciplined Brown when he first arrived at Temple, suspending him in Spring 2011 for getting into a verbal altercation with a teammate and an assistant coach, but the coach has entrusted the roles of running back, punt returner and kick returner to Brown during the past two seasons.

Addazio gave Brown perhaps the biggest hug of any of the 12 seniors on Senior Day.

“Matt and I have got a unique relationship,” Addazio said. “I believe in Matt and I’ve stuck with Matt through these hard times. Matt is who he is, and he’s a volatile guy who’s very competitive. But what I appreciate about Matt: He’s a competitor. I love competitors. I’m going to go the extra mile for these guys that go the extra mile on the field. Matt Brown and I have gone the extra mile.”

I'm not joking. I'm speculating on why on earth Adazzio would get the nod over the other guys. There has to be some reason. I;m NOT saying I prefer him over the other two 'finalists.'

It better not be true that Bates insisted that Diaco leave ND now and Diaco insisted that he stay until the NC game. If this was the only reason why Diaco is not our coach, than Bates screwed this up even worse than imagined.

this would also be delicious ironing as frank addazio was not hired 4 years ago because gdf refused to wait for frank's knee surgery to heal (or somesuch)

I would feel somewhat better if it comes to light that BC and Bates got completely out maneuvered for the likes of Diaco and Golden and that Bates got left at the altar as it happened several years ago to Gladchuk with Frank Beamer and that William and Mary guy whose name escapes me at present...but we grabbed a "bigum" when we then hired Henning...and the rest, as they say, is history....someone here had talked about linking Diaco's name with the likes of Kromer and Lembo to "manage expectations"...geez, where are these guys now when we need them??? Are we supposed to feel better grabbing an Adazzio over some young buck like Lembo???

My bigger disappointment even over the choice of coach is that the new AD emperor has been shown to be without clothing...what a fraud this process, and the man in charge, has proven to be!

People applauded Bates for firing Spaz and were quick to ask everyone to donate. That move took no insight, guts, or overall effort. That was a foregone conclusion. The replacement for Spaz was the action that would define Bates. This hire is the pure definition of Failure.

if you are going to go small time, then at least manage expectations. don't float names (or let names be floated) like Bob Diaco only to hire Coach Spaz 2.0 Daz.

I haven't bought tickets for 2 years, aside from maybe a stub hub purchase or two. I'll hold out to see who his staff is... but I don't expect to attend a game for another two. Why the fuck would we offer a 6 year contract?

In truth, if Addazio and his staff are even mediocre, they could pull in 6 wins next year. My fear is that we've pulled in someone much, much worse than spaz. Someone who could make us a 6-win team again, and never be fired.
