GREENSBORO, N.C. - True freshman LB Luke Kuechly has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week, announced November 2.
Kuechly intercepted the first pass of his career and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown in the Eagles' 31-10 win against Central Michigan on Saturday. He also racked up a game high 11 tackles and anchored a defensive secondary that limited heralded Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour to 152 passing yards and no touchdowns. The true freshman has led the Eagles in tackles in eight of nine games this season.
Kuechly leads the team with 58 solo tackles, 36 assisted stops and 94 total tackles. His two pass break ups and one fumble recovery are tied for the team lead and his seven tackles for a loss are second.
