i don't think we should have to compete with VT and BU but this kid is still young. maybe he will blow up at some point and we can say we were first.

i could find very little about him. plays for AAU team New England Playaz though

He went to the BC elite camp 2 years ago and played well.

Yes, he is ready to blow up. He is a big time rebounder and shot blocker from Haiti that has endless potential, and BC isn't his only high-major interest so far.

I assume BCEaglesFan means the BC elite camp two WEEKS ago, where Baptiste reportedly dominated on the defensive end, despite not being fully recovered from a sprained MCL he suffered in April. The impression I get is that he's a natural shot blocker somewhat like Noel -- is there something in the water in Haiti? His name has been floating around in NERR for a while, but BC seems to have just begun to show an active interest in him -- could this be connected to the AAU having recently blacklisted the malodorous coach of the N.E. Playaz? He certainly shows every sign of becoming a high-value recruiting target. With Baptiste, Brennan, Falzon, Miller, Sharma, and others, 2015 is shaping as a big year locally, maybe nearly as good as 2014 -- and BC will have a lot of open scholarships for 2015.

Djery Baptiste was at the BC elite camp last year and was really really good.
I have faith in Addazio. He brings intense energy to the program, something we desperately need.

If Baptiste was that good coming out of the 8th grade, he's bound to attract national attention before long; his injury may have kept him under the radar for a while, but news gets around in a hurry. The more I hear about him, the more I worry that he might blast off like Noel. It's good to hear that Donahue has been on him for some while -- you can't start recruiting too early these days.

The video doesn't show much of Johnson's perimeter shot, but he recently made 8 threes in an AAU tournament game, so he can keep defenses honest. He's already made an unofficial visit to Tennessee. This kid plays for a high-visibility HS program (his predecessor as PG was Marquis Teague), so he'd be a tough get even if Indiana players weren't prone to stay in the Midwest time zone.

We are Elliott Pitts only offer from the East Coast. Sets us apart, sometimes its good to be unique. All other offers are Pac-12 (Cal, ZONA, Arizona ST, WASH, Wash ST....)

I'm also curious as to why you're down on Singer. He averaged 34, 7, and 7 last season (on a mediocre team, admittedly) and has at least 8 high-major offers (a rather diffuse group ranging from home town school Miami to distant Nebraska). He fits Donahue's player profile, a lights-out 3P shooter with smarts (Harvard also wants him). Obviously I'd rather have a good big man in 2013, but why is Pitts so much better than Singer? Anyway, BC has already offered Singer, so we could end up with him.

We only have 3 scholarships to give over the next 2 years, and Singer doesn't help us. We already have 4 players at the 1 and 2 guard spots for the next three years who are either good or will become very good: Daniels, Jackson, Hanlan, and Rahon. While an excellent player, Singer isn't an improvement over any of them. Even if he was, it wouldn't be enough to justify us being down to 2 available scholarships.

Pitt on the other hand is capable of playing the 3 guard and would be a huge improvement for us. Given that Pitts is one of the very best guards in the country and has the height to play the 3-guard position makes him very desirable for BC if we can land him.

If I understand you correctly, you see Pitts being what we'd like Heckmann to be, a genuine 2-3 swingman, while you see Singer as a combo guard. Pitts is 2 inches taller than Singer, maybe less, but presumably he's more athletic, which would matter in ACC games. I think you're slightly overrating Pitts and slightly underrating Singer, but I see the logic of your position, especially where the scholarship shortage is concerned. Personally, I'm so excited about the 2014 class that I don't want Donahue to use more than one scholarship in 2013, and even that only for Dingba or (if the hoop gods are implausibly benevolent) Austin Colbert. Of course, if Vonleh should revert to 2013 and decide to grace us with his presence, using a second scholarship would be no problem (and, as I observed earlier, we'd probably get the slot back in 2014 anyway).

If it is Henry, he'd be a very acceptable get, but an awfully tough one. He has at least a dozen high-major offers stretching across the country from Miami (the apparent favorite at present) through Kansas State to USC. Naturally skinny kid (6'9", 210) but can hold his own inside -- reported to work very hard on conditioning.

Maker goes to school in Metairie, across the river from New Orleans; is there an AAU tournament or an elite camp in Miami right now? It's worth noting that Maker is considered more skilled than two highly regarded rising seniors, even though he's just out of the 8th grade and may have reached his 15th birthday by now. Maker (an Australian of Sudanese ancestry) has the scouts going bananas; they say he already has the skill set of a blue-chip high school senior. He's firmly positioned as #1 in the class of 2016, so recruiting him would be an incredible reach, and Donahue doesn't normally waste his time. I do wonder why the Mississippi State coach is so astonished to see him there; does he think the kid (whoever he is) is academically substandard for BC (which is certainly not a problem in Starkville)? By the way, if it's Price-Martin, he'd be an even better get than Henry, but also an even tougher one; his offers include UConn and Louisville.
