Alumni Stadium - Brick Inner Wall (finally)

Postby MilitantEagle on Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:42 pm

People have been asking for this one for a while. I am no longer a Flynn donor, this was forwarded to me and it was also on ATL blog

As a loyal Flynn Fund donor we want to thank you for your support the past year. You help make Boston College Athletics stronger. As someone who has identified themselves among our most loyal fans we wanted you to be among the first to see one of the exciting new developments happening on campus this summer.

Upon your arrival at our season opener September 1 versus Miami you will notice two significant changes to the interior of Alumni Stadium. First, we are in the process of installing a new state-of-the-art AstroTurf surface. The current technological advances in turf products is amazing and we are thrilled to provide our student-athletes with the best surface available. Additionally, we will finish off the interior of the stadium by installing brick panels throughout the inner walls and team entrances to blend with the finishes of the exterior of the stadium. This will give Alumni Stadium a complete and finished look for national audiences and visitors to campus. Attached you will find a rendering of the new turf surface.

Are you the reason why the charge for damages to the room at the end of the year?

I'll cut you some slack since you are a younger grad, but lets just say most girls didn't shave when I graduated.

The mod across from me completely trashed their place the morning of graduation, think there tab was in the 5 figures.

Threw refrigerators through walls, tables through windows, looked like calcutta when they were done

It's too bad they didn't set fire to the mods once everyone was outside.

Those are an absolute eyesore and should have been torn down years ago.

10 year Institutional Master Plan eliminates a third of them.

Of course, that 10 year plan map also has Stokes Commons in a different place than they ended up building it, and the "Brighton Athletics Center," which we haven't heard a whisper about in years. Meanwhile, our baseball and softball teams continue to play on a tailgating lot.

Maybe this is a nerdification thing. In my days, if you had such an urge, you worked it out long before SR year. Our FR hall (Fitz) looked like Calcutta every Sunday morning.

Perhaps we can continue our remarkable run of bear-attack-less home games. This is actually more impressive than the bowl winning streak, IMO.

I threw a stand-up fan down the hallway in Walsh in a fit of drunken rage after the Jimmy Howard Frozen Four game (couldn't find tickets for under $200 and was saving my money in case we made the championship)...also threw a fire extinguisher through the drywall of our room in Gabelli after the Villanova goaltending game

Someone took the fire extinguisher to the halls when I was in Walsh. It ended up being good though, covered up the film of beer on the floor.

Worst I ever got was nearly putting a hole through my apartment junior year when Matty Ice threw an interception in the 2007 VT game. My roommate finished off the wall though when the Giants won the Super Bowl a few months later.

Watched that game at my buddy's apartment on Comm Ave in Brighton, 10-12 of us there, mix of our BC crowd and one guy (from Swampscott)'s friends from home so we had someone's little TV set up in the living room to watch the Red Sox World Series game and the BC game on the big screen....after that interception one guy picks up the small TV and is about to throw it through the plasma screen until the guy sitting closest to the TV stops him. Obviously large quantities of Busch Light were involved. Nearly disastrous, although we probably would've just stumbled down to Harry's to watch the rest of the game and worried about the damage later. The guy who wanted to destroy the TVs settled for throwing a couch cushion out onto the street.

So now that Spaz and GDF are literally building a wall around Alumni, does this mean the defections from the football team will stop? I know the walls we've built in mass/new England/jersey have crumbled, maybe starting with Alumni will reverse the trend.

Are you still ravaged every week by Boomer the rugby player? Does it hurt? Do you want to talk about it? Your real-life friend IB can counsel you, councilor.
