Impressive Move by Schiano

Postby Bryn Mawr Eagle on Wed May 02, 2012 11:12 am

He symbolically put paralyized former Rutgers player Eric LeGrand on the Bucs' roster: http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/02/buccaneers-sign-paralyzed-rutgers-player-eric-legrand/?hpt=hp_c1

Cue the jokes about how this move could not make the Bucs any worse . . .

Good for Greg... just another reason why he would be a great fit at a school like BC. Though it's going to be weird when the Bucs have to cut him.

I'm a little torn on that sort of thing. Motivations don't seem exactly pure.

Too many jokes that I can't make because I actually think it is a good gesture.

A cripple as a linebacker, huh? He'll fit right in on that defense.

Seriously, though, classy move. But Tampa sucks.

Was Legrande projected to be an NFL player before the injury?

What would you mock? Those unis are tight. Especially... when you compare them to the mismatched horseshit all our teams have been stuck with since moving to UnderArmour. Another nice move by Flip... to move away from Reebok but to do it in his typical half-assed manner that neither keeps our traditional look nor modernizes it to the point of making it attractive to younger kids. The good news is... when we look back at this time in BC history, the unis will be as unfamiliar as the quality of the teams.

LOL! HJS you are priceless. You do realize you are about the only one who feels King Greg would have been a good fit at BC. The guy absolutely sucks as a coach; his lack of accomplishment at Rutgers proves it.

I like the move to UA. Should've just moved to Nike but UA would be my second choice.

Boston College has spent the last 19 years with Dan Henning, Tom O'Brien, Jeff Jagodzinski or Frank Spaziani as its head coach. If "King Greg" "absolutely sucks as a coach" as you say and if he has had a "lack of accomplishment at Rutgers", then he would fit in perfectly.

I happen to believe that Schiano is eleventy billion times the coach those 4 are and I think it is "proven" by (a) what he did accomplish at a crap school like Rutgers, (b) the fact that he was offered very good college head coaching gigs, (c) the fact that he was paid multimillions a year and (d) the fact that he is now the head coach of an NFL team.

All that said... as one of the rare posters on EO who has been an opponent advocate for both Spaz and GDF, I want to give you props for still showing up here to defend them... even a day after they tried to ruin Montel Harris' life. :kudos

Moving to UA is fine. But rolling out the uniforms that we now wear is effing terrible. We shoulda gone old school (like UA's uniform with Auburn) or gone full Oregon (like Maryland). What we did is some sort of bastardized mix that harkens back to the days of the USFL.

Going the way of Maryland's uniforms isn't call "full Oregon." It's full something else:

While HJS is wrong about Schiano being a good coach, he's right about the unis. The kids like the retarded uniforms, and ultimately if it's good for recruiting it's probably a good thing.

I agree with the analysis of the uniforms, in that they are, as stated, neither traditional enough or modern enough. Provided we had a competent AD, we would likely have good, classic uniforms, and therefore be able to mock the garish shit that RU has rolled out, and especially the lame videos where the team is hootin and hollarin like its a You Tube video and they are witnessing a fight, and where the alumni can't utter a legitimate English sentence.

The best argument for Shady is that one of 32 franchises in the multi-million dollar business that is the NFL has sought fit to entrust their franchise with him. I frankly trust them more than anyone on this board with regard to opinions as to who is a great HC.

Shady has not won anything at RU, but you need to look at his record there and compare it to what preceeded him.

Schiano is Rutgers' Tom O'Brien, with a better sales pitch and less success. He isn't in the ballpark of Jags (and his staff, before someone makes a semantics argument).

I still like our uni's. I've always thought black BC uniforms would look cool but unless the team is actually good, it's sort of pointless.
