I don't know what kind of platform does Montel has to say something? His uncle had his facebook comment, for whatever that is worth. Its not clear to me that a 22 year old has the know-how, motivation or means to contact a disinterested media, although I'm sure if he did someone would listen. The other issue is NFL aspirations, I'm not sure how this cuts, is it better reputationally to let allegations like this stand but quickly die? or fight them in the press and perhaps make them a much larger issue?

The other issue could be that he technically was in violation of a team rule. He could have, as someone somewhere posted, skipped team meetings (since he knew he wasn't playing for Spaz again anyway). If this is the case he may actually have "repeated violations of team rules" or whatever, even though it remains a bullshit smear campaign for the school to handle it in the fashion they did.

I also no longer consider GDF to be good at CYA. The Jags firing was very public and embarrassing and he failed to protect himself or the school, the Rogers and Crowley leave of absence were similarly hamfisted. I don't think I'd be overly surprised to have something like this really snowball out of GDF's control. Here's to hoping.

This is something that will live with Montel Harris for the rest of his life. Whenever he goes for an interview, they will Google his name and come up with this press release. He really does need to explain things from his side. But, as has been mentioned, if he isn't approached by the Globe or Herald, then there is no way for him to interview himself. If they do reach out for him, he should be completely candid. If they don't reach out to him, he should transfer and give the press covering his new school the complete story.

A comedy of errors and gaffes - that's your tenure at BC. You make me embarrassed to be a BC alum on a weekly basis, and I'm far from alone. Your inbox right now surely speaks to that. Even if Montel Harris "repeatedly" violated team rules (which no one believes), to publicly announce it in the fashion that the Athletic Department did is appalling, especially because there is no prior history of such transgressions. The day both you and your miserable excuse for a head coach are gone from BC will be the best day in BC history, regardless of your laughable, self-promoting Hall of Fame induction. As always, we are BC, you are not.

The Flynn Fund essentially lives and dies with donors who give in the last month of their fiscal year. With May 31st as the deadline, today's events could not have come at a worst time. As of last week, they were a little behind, but generally in the ballpark of last year (but that was their worst year since pre-DBS). This kills them. It should also be noted that in spite of the kickass schedule, season tickets are at a much slower pace than last year.

I was intentionally sitting on my renewal with the goal of getting someone to call me so I can go off and give them a piece of my mind (and secure knowing there is no way we sell out). As time goes on, I'm less inclined to renew at all.

It took you that long to decide that? Heck, I gave up my season tickets to football long before this. I will never return to Alumni as long as GDF and Spaz are there. More people have to do the same and send a message to BC. This is not acceptable for BC football. I gave up my support and yearly donations. It's too bad for the kids on the team but I'm adamant in my disgust on how this program is being run or run into the ground. My support is only with the hockey team.

Montel Harris didn’t want to talk about specifics. The past - which now includes Boston College football, with the announcement Tuesday that he had been dismissed from the team - is the past.

“Montel Harris has been permanently dismissed from our football team due to a repeated violation of team rules,’’ coach Frank Spaziani said in a statement. “We are grateful for his contributions the past four seasons and will support him in completing his degree requirements and in his future pursuits.’’

“They told me not to say anything,’’ said Harris. “So I won’t. But I know I want to play football next season and fulfill my goal of playing in the National Football League.’’
