He's clearly a good player but lacks motivation/effort.

Pretty impressive that Bleacher Report named him the top breakout player.

It's not us... it was the Courant referencing a Fairfield paper who was sourcing Bleacher Report.

What can Rakim do at the next level? His shot and his handle are not good enough to be a wing player and he has never shown that he can be a consistent defender.

Again, all I am doing is reminding people that I could be eating my words soon. I said he was an NBA player 5 years ago.

And ATL, the answer to your question is that he is the prototypical athletic 2 in the NBA. If he is truly in that good of shape, and has worked on his game, scouts will most certainly be thinking about taking him. Think Tony Allen.

Tony Allen is 10 times the player Rakim could ever dream of being.

I'm pretty sure Tony Allen and Rakim Sanders couldn't be more diametrically opposed type of players.

One can dribble and the other has an odd habit of bouncing it off his foot?

When did Tony Allen learn to dribble?

In order to make the NBA, you need to have at least 1 "plus" skill. Tony Allen's "plus" skill is his perimeter defense - he's one of the best in the league. I don't see a "plus" skill with Rakim. But he does have NBA athleticism so I wouldn't completely rule it out either.

This is fair. Sanders will never devote himself to D like Allen, and not having that one trait could keep him out of the League.
