Heckmann and Caudill have potential to develop into solid contributors (but have a bit to go). Hanlan seems like a nice addition. Rahon seems more of a flier, but one that serves a vital role in Don's offense.
When I look at that group, I think it has a screaming need at forward (both 3 and 4). I see literally no use Dragicevich. Tebbutt plugs a huge hole on the roster. As for Gill, I am suspect of his talent level given the lack of interest. That said, he might not be a terrible signing if nothing more than spreading out the ships. Dragicevich seems as a waste as (a) we already have FOUR guys on the roster who can play 2 and (b) Dragicevich would become like the 8th person in the class of 2015. Donahue's Sweet Sixteen team had 8 or 9 seniors. That bothers me.
If BC wants to bring in Bryce Cotton or Dylan Ennis... fine. They are at least ballhandlers who could score (we only have 2 on the roster).
If BC wants to bring in an athletic wing like Jarelle Reischel or Jordan Tebbutt... fantastic as that is a massive position of need.
If BC wants to bring in Tony Gill... I guess it's better than nothing. But, he doesn't do much other than provide a body to fill that need (meaning that we better be addressing that position by the Fall of 2012).
If BC wants to bring in a stand still SG who jacks-up 3s, is a defensive liability and counts as the umpteenth member of the Class of 2015... well, then the BCWOFW rumor of Don underestimating the importance of recruiting will have considerable merit.
I can see value to Dragicevich (if he is as he is being projected here, which is based on a) 99.4% on him being white b)the one game eepstein watched in which he was focusing on a reserve shooting guard the entire time for some reason c) HJS not liking Gene and d) the fact he wasn't consistently starting at ND [the legit one] if it is in place of Odio. Based on nothing except similar size, same class and the fact that Odio didn't really seem to be a guy close to developing I could see this being the case. But again based on nothing real.
I posted below, TOS is saying Tebbutt is probably not happening. That blows. I look forward to the rest of this post being ignored.
Gill could be exactly what this team needs. Might not ever be an impact guy, but some depth at the 4 and 5 is a major plus. I've said this before but he doesn't have to be *** ******* he can be Tyrelle Blair, that would be helpful.
2 ballhandlers on the roster assumes Rahon can't play PG even though he played such in high school. White thing again? Or is it from you experts watching youtube videos?
As to the BCWOFW (BCwest AKA the poster HJS likes to stand behind when he wants to be taken seriously) rumor of Don underestimating the importance of recruiting will have considerable merit. It's as wrongly worded now as it was when made. The absolute only grain of sense in that idea is that he should hire a Joe Jones like recruiter again, but the best players on the current roster were primarily recruited by Nate Graham and Donahue himself as opposed to Jones. I certainly wouldn't turn an ace recruiter away. Maybe your boy Gene is being tight with the purse strings.
