Spaz starts the presser by talking about BC's success at developing 2-star players.
Said... we have enough RBs in the program and would only take an elite one.
DLinemen are always a priority... we took a bunch last year... but at every program in the nation, you can never have enough DLinemen.
The record wasn't a problem in recruiting. Kinda alluded to there being other problems... but not 4-8.
We always keep a couple of extra spots open for walk-ons, transfers and wiggle room.
Optimistic that Daniels will qualify.
Simmons will be a WR.
BC has to work on the total person. Need to have certain qualifications for academics and character. We view it as a plus... but we have to comply with it.
Talent pool in Mass is subjective. He said that there is a lot of difference of opinion and surprise at who signed where. Main focus is the 16 we signed.
Staff doesn't have the same take on when a kid is committed (as opposed to the soft standard media and fans use). They recruit HARD until they sign.
Win is a great player but is also an artist????? WTF is this guy talking about. The biggest part about recruiting Homer was that he is a Red Sox fan.
Recruiting is subjective and studies show that programs with top "stars" have zero correlation to on-field success.
Don't expect any surprise adds to this class.
Emphasis is on the staff's ability to evaluate and how they will fit into the program... as people and players.
It's not about getting 5-star players and winning National Championships... it's about coaching those players.
Fans SHOULD be excited about stars like they get excited about preseason polls. Fans should really be excited about the 3 classes he has brought in (trying to water-down the crappiness of this class with the better previous classes).
Presser audio was terrible as you can't hear the questions.
