Dick Rosenthal wrote:As for loving Marchand if he is on your team, I always find that sort of defense uncompelling. I can't stand Sean Avery and was disgusted by the fact that the Rangers couldn't seem to win without him. Now that they can, I couldn't be more happy to see him sent to Hartford where he can languish on nice bus rides to Albany, Springfield, Lowell, Binghamton, Rochester and Glens Falls.

The difference between Marchand and Avery is skill. Avery is not good at hockey. When Bruins fans say they like watching Marchand, only part of it refers to the agitation stuff. It's also the reason that Pat Verbeek was such a fan favorite everywhere he played.

This seems as appropriate a thread to say that Tim Thomas is an American treasure for giving Barry Obama a huge fuck you today by skipping the White House trip and explaining exactly why he was doing so. Obama loses his photo op as the story becomes that Thomas thinks he is a disgrace.

Meh, that was a pretty douchebag move just because now his teammates are going to have to answer questions about Thomas' political leaning from mongoloid reporters when I'm sure they could give a flying fuck.

That's not fair. After what Thomas did in the playoffs, he doesn't have to answer to anyone.

Which is also funny because he's one of only a few Americans on the team.

I suppose somewhere in the 8 years Bush was in the White House, someone did this too. I think it's kind of lame, personally, because you do all of a sudden make it all about you for you and your teammates. I would accept an invite to meet the President and go to the White House is offered no matter what I thought of the president's policies.

Corey Schneider says Thomas should have sucked it up for an hour.

I agree. No matter what you think of the president you go to the white house if invited. First, it is a team thing, and second, you have to respect the office, even if you disagree with who is in it.

Other athletes that have skipped White House invitations include:
James Harrison (Steelers)
Mark Chmura (maybe he was hooking up with the babysitter at the time)
Manny Ramirez
Larry Bird
Michael Jordan

If Bush was in office and an athlete skipped out and then gave a reason like Thomas did, the pussified liberal media would have lauded him.

Liberals are such pussies.

No TRE here for a little brass bonanza. Didn't watch last night, was Cam Ward simply in the zone?

I missed it too but Cam Ward for whatever reason turns into a mix of Jaque Plante, Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur whenever he plays the Bruins. They had something around 40 shots IIRC.

Ugly last night. And Lucic is just a koont. If you are going to cross check a guy in the head while he is on his knees at the end of the game in which you were horse raped, at least make it count. The feuggety love tap followed by his koonty turtle along the Bruins bench was disgustiad. I don't know if anyone watched the NHL Network after but they caught Ferrence talking to the Sabres assistant captain while they were waiting for an explanation of the penalties and the Ferrence basically admitted it was a koonty move by Lucic.

I would like to see Lucic suffer a major spinal cord injury. Preferrably from colliding with Ovechkin and blowing out both of Ovie's knees.

The only turtling I saw on that play was Patrick Kaleta who goes after Ference but decides he's too big of a chickenshit to go against McQuaid. Shocking coming from the biggest pussy in the Northeast Division, non-Habs category. Lucic just got hung up on the boards first by Gaustad and then by the ref. Don't think I've ever seen him turtle, especially considering the fact he already beat the shit out of Kaleta earlier in the game and knocked Gaustad out when they played about a month ago. Fuck, that whole Sabres team is a bunch of pussies starting with that whiny bitch Miller in net, who's whole emo routine directly caused that first goal to be waived off, and extending to Ruff, who probably still can't stand the fact that his most memorable NHL moment is getting his ass knocked out by the President of the Bruins.

Hartnell's grown on me a ton since 24/7 as well as with his classic "Suck it Phaneuf!" chirp and his celly of scoring and beating Phaneuf's ass. Plus his place in Philly is essentially Tom Hanks' in "Big". Briere and Pronger are the biggest douchers on that team given that Richards is now out in LA.

Don't disagree about the Sabres, but Lucic is a koont. Watching him run for his life from Mike Rupp was worth the price of admission during the Rangers-Bs tilt (as was Rupp's post game comment that Lucic only fights below his weight class).

As for Hartnell, last I heard Ryan Callahan has him(and the rest of the Flyers) chained up in his basement with a ball gag jammed down his throat. It is actually funny watching how much the Rangers are inside the Flyers heads at this point. It leaves me a bit discombobulated because it has been a long time since I have watched a Ranger team and actually expected that they would consistently win and I love the Bob Gainey impersonation Boyle has been doing. For a line that rarely scores they do take over huge chunks of the game and they simply devour other team's top lines when the Rangers get up.

A) See Lucic's girlfriend

B) It really is absurd at this point. You could see it last week, it was painfully obvious today.

Everyone Lucic has fought this year has been just about the same size as him, save for Sesito, who's more or less a goon anyways. His fight list is actually pretty good, http://www.hockeyfights.com/players/2638. Not Thornton-like but he's a lot more important than Thornton so they don't want him sitting out five minutes every so often.

I honestly don't watch enough Bruins games to monitor who Lucic fights. I'm just making a joke about a player I hate that's 6-5 230 where the police were called for domestic abuse ( which I guess is funny if you're a terrible person like myself).

As someone that routinely makes Dany Heatley jokes, I enjoyed it. It's even better that he used the "Do you know who I am?" argument when the cops showed up.

I don't want to live in a world where you can't make fun of Heatley. Of course, I took delight in Bryan Pata's execution-style drug hit, so admittedly I am not the best test case. I also enjoy making fun of Pele Lindberg and have argued that the pile of his bones, left strewn in front of the crease, would be a more effective goaltending solution then what the Flyers have today.
