So are the refs. B's aren't doing themselves any favors but a few of their calls have been, well, a little poor.

Marshmont should stop doing that. But somehow it's cool for six guys to jump Thornton?? Not even a too many men on them or anything?

I despise Vancouver's chicanery.

Would've expected 3 but he got the extra 2 for being a repeat offender. Dumb hit and think he needs to sit down for a little bit regardless. He's been very douchy recently. And, yes, he's a guy you'd hate on the other team but love on your team. And he'll at least throw down unlike other little fucks like Ott and the ilk.

Oh, and Thornton should be #1 on the SO list.

Are there any Devils fans here? How does low-row Mezzanine on the side compare to lower tickets behind the net?

I'm sure you will have your pick of the seats out in Newark. Funny how Devils tickets are so expensive yet fans are nowhere to be.

Always a worthy goal.

On the whole for hockey (and essentially all sports) I prefer to be higher towards the center.

Sat down low for the Beanpot last year (sat right behind :pickle minions from the south at their first hockey game, hilarious), had a great view for the two winning goals but not so great for play on the other end, opted for tickets up top towards the center this year.

Going to Rangers Bruins Saturday in upper deck 2nd row, really looking forward to it.

If you think that was malicious you are retarded. It was a reckless play and a boarding, for sure but I can't really it's Ference's fault he went into the boards awkwardly. He'll probably get something because of the injury, which is completely retarded in 99% of the instances by the way (1% include Matt Cooke hits, Chris Simon leg stomps and other such plays where there is obvious intent to injury), but I honestly think it should be a fine and maybe a game. Ference has no history, it wasn't done with malicious intent, it was reckless and the end result was unfortunate. To call it disgusting is just stupid IMO. Of course, if this was Marchand doing the hit I would have a completely different opinion. Andrew Ference just isn't a guy that comes close to straddling the line.

Don't think it was malicious but you have to know where you are and where the person you hit is.

It's exactly the type of hit that gets players seriously injured.

"no history"?

Yeah no shit. It's pretty clear he was going for a hit to the shoulder and mistimed it so he hit the numbers. Shit happens sometimes.

And, no, he doesn't have any history. If you think that's a cheap hit and makes Ference a dirty player, well, then I feel sorry for you. For fucks sake, he's just trying to give him a nudge and Halpern head skated into his shoulder. That happens every play except most players aren't retarded enough to skate into other players' shoulders. That hit was a lot like Crosby's first concussion in the Winter Classic last year. And if you could also provide me what the punishment was for that hit as well as the Habs penalty was for not putting Halpern in the quiet room for the allotted time, it would be much appreciated. I'm coming up empty for God knows whatever reason.

Thanks, that's all I need to know.

I couldn't care less how the canadiens treat their players who they think have a concussion

Edit: Don't think he's a dirty player but it was a dirty play don't care how you or that clown Brickley try to justify it

No. No it's not.

Ference put his elbow into Halpern's stomach and his upper arm into his chest because Halpern was going skating to into Ference, a play that happens every single game. Halpern turned. When Halpern turned, his head made contact with Ference's shoulder. Ference didn't extend. He didn't aim at the head. He didn't do anything more malicious than body a guy that was skating into him. As Brick said in that clip, the other player also has to be aware of where he is on the ice. It's a two-way street. It's an absolute fucking joke if you think Ference was doing anything other than body him right there. As I stated upthread, if this was, say Marchand or a player in the Matt Cooke/Raffi Torres vein, I would think otherwise. If this is the cheapest thing you can find of Andrew Ference being dirty, it's pretty clear your argument is standing on pretty weak legs.

Edit: So you don't think players need to be aware of where they are in relation to other players? Please tell me the difference between the Halpern hit and the Crosby hit I mentioned above?

1-2 too many games IMO. Would have been fine with 1 and okay with 2. Hopefully this allows Steve Kampfer to come in an unseat Jo "I Suck and Beat Women and Have Zero Hockey Sense" Corvo as the team's PMD.

It was a bad hit by ference, but when the NHL refers to "repeat offenders", it means prior suspensions. Therefore, ference (unlike Marshmont) unequivocally did not have a history. With that in mind, it's pretty clear that Shanny thought the hit to be a severe violation. In my view, the major penalty was justified, but I thought it was marginally suspendable. I haven't seen Shanny's video yet, and FWIW his explanation have often been elucidating when his judgement differs from my own inclination.

Also, sanctimony is annoying.

It was a cheap hit and he deserved a game or two. I imagine he got three because of the focus on these hits and the fact that it occured in a marquis match up game for the NHL. Ferrence isn't a dirty player by any reasonable defenition of the word. If someone like Lucic had done it it would be a different story.

As for loving Marchand if he is on your team, I always find that sort of defense uncompelling. I can't stand Sean Avery and was disgusted by the fact that the Rangers couldn't seem to win without him. Now that they can, I couldn't be more happy to see him sent to Hartford where he can languish on nice bus rides to Albany, Springfield, Lowell, Binghamton, Rochester and Glens Falls.

Anyway, Saturday's game was looked like a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. Assuming what I am hearing about Crosby is true, I don't see other teams in the conference who have the same intangibles and goaltending.
