Army Game

Postby Bryn Mawr Eagle on Thu Mar 01, 2012 8:20 am

I'm planning on making the trip to Army this fall. I've heard that in the past BC put together a travel package for this game, with a hotel stay in NYC and then a boat ride up the Hudson to West Point for the game. Has anyone done that? Not sure whether it would be cost effective since I'll probably be bringing the kids, but it sounds like a fun way to make a weekend of it.

That sounds great.

Therefore Napoleon won't do it.

Seems like there will be a decent amount of BC people there, NAMETAG EVENT!

EO Name & Tax Bracket? Feel like the last time we tried this was '08 in Tampa and it failed.

I think I was actually living in Westchester the last time we played at Army (2000) so I do not know if they had put together a booze cruise to the game from the city. However, I do know it has become common for visiting teams to do that over the last few years. I would bet money that BC has something good for this trip. Damn, I can not believe it has been 12 years! :ace

While generally I share this sentiment, this sounds like something the Gridiron Club would organize, not BC Athletics themselves, so there is hope.

Who would be in charge of that? If the alumni set it up... yeah it will be great. But, if this is something spearheaded by the Athletic Department, you can rest assured that the means of transportation will be a Fung Wah bus... complete with fire.

It was set-up by some BC alumni club in NY. Don't recall the cost, but it was game ticket and open bar (beer/wine) up and down the Hudson. Being from Boston, we were placed on a waiting list until all members or their alumni club were taken care of. Well worth it...

I'll be going also.

If we have enough people, we can always set up our own booze cruise or bus leaving from NYC/NNJ.

To confirm what I've been told is that Boston people have to get themselves to NYC first. I'll probably just leave for West Point very early, see the campus, do whatever they allow tailgate-wise, go to the game, mourn our loss, then drive home. in between flicking off and verbally abusing active and future-active military members Piscataway-style of course

Thats 2, I think we need another few people or else its going to get really tough to drink enough to justify the cost. (I may as well have my butler drive us in the Rolls)

I'll be there. Even though I'm coming from Boston, a weekend in NYC and a booze cruise would be very tempting.

I'll look up a price and see if its worthwhile.

EDIT: Unless there is something set up by the alumni assoc, a luxury yacht//schooner is probably out unless we get 60 people.

Nick maybe we can use some bachelor party ideas or just throw a hell of a tail gate.

Not sure if it would be cheaper...but I'm sure the Jersey side would be doable for most as well (you know I have people in hoboken and there are lots of others in the hobo/jc area).

No matter what we do Jersey side will be cheaper and a shorter ride.

The few I checked from Manhattan were like $6g min. I am sure there has to be something cheaper somewhere.

If it saved $$ (and in turn allowed more to participate), I wouldn't be opposed to BYOB instead of a cash bar type of thing.

Agreed BYO would be an easy way to slash the price I would think

You may have a liability issue with that but it's worth a try. I can drive up from DC Sat. Morning and just park at the Marina/Ferry Terminal so count me in.

How long is the Ferry ride? I'd guess CBS College Sports will pick up the game so you're looking at 1:00 pm or 3:30 pm.
