STX pipeline

Postby Sophistry on Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:09 pm

STX and Sean Duggan have been playing very effectively in the big school state play-offs (no separation of public and Catholic schools) over the last 2 weeks. Last night, X bumped off No 2 state ranked Colerain and Duggan played his usual strong game and kicked a 27 yd field goal. Same result as last week, except he kicked a 33rd field goal. As far as future prospects, BC should focus on Coner Hundley at RB. X is not known for producing D-1 runnning backs but this guy isthe real deal, and I don't give a sh#t how many stars he receives. He is physically tough, can kick into another gear and is willing to take the game on his back. Although he only had one rushing TD this week, he had 4 TDs and about 150 yds rushing last week to win a game against LaSalle when X had no passing attack. I hope that BC gets in early on this guy.

Duggan is a very good kicker. Not only on firld goals but his kickoff stats are very good. He would be kicking the ball inside the 10 (a touchback in high school) more than freese and posssibly quigley

From what my old roommate used to tell me, the Colerain- St. X Rivalry makes Duke-UNC and Michigan Ohio State look like a :slapfight. Go Bombers.

I watched the St X game that was in the Herby thing. I will pass on the RB, thanks. Seems like a decent player, and probably a D-1 kid, but I am not sure he is that kind of recruit.

Hundley made 1st Team All State and could emerge as the best RB in a generation at STX. Another junior that BC should start focusing on is Andrew Arand (S).

W/all the Bosco threads, it's time to bring this thread back to life. BC benefits from certain high school connections like Bosco, St. I and St. E in Cleveland and the entire GCL in Cincinnati, but no school has consistently sent their best to BC like STX over the last few years: P. Ross, N. Larkin, A. Albright, Keeks, and Duggan. This also includes :toby who did break open the southwestern part of Ohio to BC recruiting.

Here is hoping that that S. Daniels completes his 5th year of finishing school and joins up w/BC next year and that another Bomber or two choose BC to keep the pipeline open through 2012.

Best to BC!

Agreed.

St. X has been very good to us along with the rest of the Catholic schools of Ohio.
I consider this area along with New Jersey to be BC's two most important recruiting areas each and every year.

For anyone who is watching the Herbstreit challenge on ESPNU, Conor Hundley is tearing up Pickering w/4 TDs and 156 yds rushing against a team that already has 2 OSU recruits. As I said over a year ago, someone needs to contact this kid. Once again, he carried a weak offense to victory.

STX and Moeller will face-off next week for the region finals. STX easily handled a very good Colerain team last night. Although BC has identified some talent in this part of the state, they have not closed the deal w/anyone. If they were to take a flyer on someone, it should be Conor Hundley. Also, if they had they chance to persuade Nat Gerbus to play LB for BC instead of Miami(Ohio), go for it. Think about it, it's possbile that BC could start all 3LBs from one high school if you had Duggan, Keeks and Daniels on the field next year. This is not what I'd recommend but if ALJ and Devitto were hurt, it's a possibility.

I think Duggan has a legit shot to be a starter. if I had to guess, though, I would say DiVitto, Duggan and KPL at LB next year, with Keyes when the go to 3-4.

...opps on the AJL, I meant KPL

Also, I predict a STX /STI match-up in the D-1 finals. If STX makes the finals or better wins state, Conor Hundley should take a bow. Players from opposing teams try desperatly to take him out w/late hits and twisting of ankles-a peverse complement to his abilities. He plays tough, hurt and without complaint. He is relentless and the poster child for the debate as to star ratings (2 star). Having watched this kid start for 3 years in one of the toughest leagues in the country,it seems unbelievable that he'll be overlooked.

By all reports, BC was very well received at the Cincy high schools, most importantly at STX and Moeller. BC did an accurate job identifying their first offers and had as good a showing since the :toby era. I really like the Kilgor (STX) kid and the Moeller running back (Watkins). How Steve Daniels adjusts to BC will help w/their recruiting. Competition has heated up in this area after several relatively dormant years before Kelly went to ND and Meyer (former STX DB coach) jumped to OSU.

Speaking of Daniels, any word on him eligibility wise?

What do you mean by that comment? Asshole said Spaz is the best coach in 15 years at the school.

STX played a classic w/Middletown last Friday which featured QB Jalin Marshall (signed w/Ohio State). I was very impressed w/QB Nick Tensing, a STX junior who had over 200 yds passing, 2 TDs and another 90 yards rushing to defeat a very good D-1 opponet projected to play for the state championship.I hope BC notices this kid.

As to Steve Daniels, he has the potential to develop into the next Jo Lonn Dunbar-a hammer.

Good to hear but from what we know of Daniels, he sounds nothing like Dunbar.

Just out of curiosity, why the William Conrad (aka Cannon) signature picture?

I'm showing my age by this question.

Collinsworth (who I like, especially compared to the other national broadcasters) was raving about him all night.
