Yes - the entire Texas athletic department should be fired. I agree.

7 top ten finishes, 11 top 15, a national championship, the NCAA record for most consecutive weeks ranked...looks exactly like a BC football resume to me.

oh hey, look - it's someone too stupid to understand the argument at hand. I'm not the one with the stupid standard here, it's hansen

It should say something that the program he's most involved with is in the worst shape

CrosbyLane wrote:Yea I mean we're only in a "fire gene" thread - I guess it's completely irrational to equate "review" to "fire". My bad, I'll leave my brain at home before posting here next time.

This makes sense - he gets all the blame and none of the credit, because it's convenient for your argument. At least you all are very consistent in your stupidity.

cvilleagle wrote:There are three good things Gene has done as far as I can see:
1. Hire Donahue. Seems great so far. We'll see what happens when other programs come calling and Gene starts making ridiculous ultimatums.
2. Big East-ACC move. Great move for BC Athletics.
3. Hire Jags. We all know how that ended - Gene made a stupid ultimatum, fired him, obliterating our football program in the process and painting himself into the corner of hiring a massively unqualified "BC Guy" who is continuing to drive our football team further and further down the drain.
Gene's tenure hasn't been an unmitigated disaster, but he has really fucked up the football program. I'm not sure that we can land a good coach even when Gene finally wakes up and fires Spaz. Who wants to work for someone who meddles this much?

Uhhh move to the ACC, improving all the teams on campus. Soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, women's basketball, tennis, sailing etc etc etc. I guess we forget that in 2006 we were ranked #6 over the last decade for football/basketball performance. Everything about our sports program has improved since he was hired, except men's lacrosse. You are going to tell me that he's really been a net negative? Get real.

As I've said, GDF painted himself into a corner. It's pretty apparent that Spazoo and Topoo aren't getting us anywhere. As said above, donations & tickets are down big time. He isn't going to make a move

cvilleagle wrote:Also, 4 years ago we were ranked well in overall football/basketball performance over a decade? How many football conference championships did we win over that period. If you're happy with the football program over the last decade, you are a rah-rah and can GTFOMAM.

Hahhahahhahahahaha oh I get it. Here's a fun question - which schools in the ACC would you trade athletic programs with? Seriously? Give it a shot, let me know.

plans for turning this team around. i'd ask why he made the Shinskie mistake and if he learned something from it. there are probably a lot more outstanding questions that some of you who know football better than me would want answered but i will leave it there.

Yea man, what a "decline." Seems pretty steady to me actually, and to most objective people with half a brain. Oh and for donations?
Over the past 10 years our annual athletic donations have increased significantly. In 1998, athletic donations totaled approximately $3.6M. Just 10 years later, in 2008, athletic donations totaled $21M, a 10% increase from the previous year's record.
So last year was the first year down from the previous - oh man, really far too, down to 17.5million in a horrible economy. Clearly gene has lost his touch and is moving our program backwards. I guess we'll just ignore all logic and fact so we can fit your awesome agenda that makes no sense. Keep on keepin on. BC athletics, totally on the decline.

oh no, I get it - clearly by "review" within a firegene thread he just means "Hey I want to see why it is he's doing such a great job"
You're on fire, keep it coming.
