Well Warsofsky has signed with the Bruins giving up his SR. year.

I really thought he was terrible this year. He'll always put up the points (the sexy stat for Dmen) but the amount he gives up on the other end isn't worth of all the accolades.

He isn't going to grow (~5'8-9") so I guess the Bruins thought it would be best for his development to be in their system.

BU has a chance to get hit harder by defections again than BC despite the huge gap in talent.

Edit: Here's the link: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2011/03/24_bus_warsofsky_signs_with.php

Talent gaps aside, if you had the choice between making some money or sticking around a second-rate college with a psychopathic coach who may or may not be a "recovering" alchie and who has lost several MPH off his fastball, what would you do? Conversely, even if you could make a lot of money, might you put it off for a year to get a degree at a top national university, playing for the gold standard program in college sports and getting coached by arguably the greatest college coach who ever lived, who also happens to be a first class gentlemen and a living example of how to conduct yourself?

To me, given that set of circumstances, it isn't hard to figure out why our kids generally stick around longer then you might think they would and BU's going running for the exit for a chance to be a middle tier player in the AHL.

+2 had me laughing (and much of it is true)

FWIW the beat writer on TOS thinks Jimmy sticks around another year & only Cam leaves early. If we can keep together the Kreider-Mullane-Jimmy Hayes line going into next year... :cheer

Damn. Sens are doing a good job getting the top undrafted talent. First 81's butt buddy Bobby Butler last year and now Da Costa. From what I heard he wanted a max package, which would be a cap hit around $3.5M or so, pricing him out of the top contenders like the Bruins, Flyer, Canucks and such. If only anybody knew where Ottawa was...

It's starting already with the Blues signing Jaden Schwartz from Colorado College and BC fans' nightmares last year.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/12/blues-sign-2010-first-round-pick-jaden-schwartz-joins-team-in-chicago/

There are also rumblings that NU will be losing players as well (though not of great quality but hitting their depth).

Sebastian Stalberg, the only player to score more than 10 goals for terrible UVM is leaving after his JR year for San Jose.

His brother plays for the Blackhawks.

Thinking abt something for those more in the know than I

Thoughts on how the potential labor issue with the NHL might effect players leaving early? It doesn't seem as bad as NBA's issue but there seem to be some issues to sort out.

I don't think the season is going to be totally lost but I'm guessing not much. Regardless of whether or not there is a lockout, teams in the AHL will still be playing and, except in rare situations like Krieder, most guys won't go straight from college to the NHL or have much of a chance at the NHL in their first year aside from riding the AHL shuttle, much like Nyquist is right now with Detroit.

No surprise but Alex Chiasson who led BU in points (15-31-46) is leaving after his junior year

Next year could be interesting for our friends down the road, they have several on the fence players in terms of leaving (Clendenning who I think is extremely overrated), their losing Millan & according to BU insiders some top recruits are wavering

Maine's Matt Mangene is leaving meaning as of now Maine is losing 47% of their goals 4 of their top 5 in points.

The lone remaining is agitator extraodinaire Joey Diamond, who hasn't made a decision, if he leaves they will be losing nearly 2/3rds of their goals.

Hey Claver, you mind giving an overview of the staying/leaving situation for BC for those of us who don't follow as closely? I assume both Dumoulin and Kreider are gone, but what about the rest? As a matter of fact, a thread breaking down next year's likely roster (including freshmen) would be richly rewarded (with as many as two magic karma points).

Will definitely do. Hopefully BigNick can chime in with some of the recruits coming in from the USHL as he has some great CONTENT from there.

My best guess is only Kreider & Dumoulin are leaving early -which isn't surprising as they were heavily pressured last year to leave.

Ridiculously surprising. Our juniors have a chance to graduate with 3 NCs next year.

Anyone that get Kreider to stay will get 4 karma points per post for a year!
