Why does Miami University have to have the (OH) after it?

#1 - Are people really going to confuse their hockey team with the other Miami in Florida?

#2 - Miami University (Oxford, OH) was founded 116 years before University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL). Miami (FL) should be the school with the special designation.

Miami University = Ohio
University of Miami = Florida

They don't even have the same name. It's like confusing BU and BC. You have to be a real fucking idiot to do it.

My uncle graduated from Miami U. It's actually a sore spot for grads for the reasons you mention.
