PC @ BC -1/29/10

This is a huge game that I hope our team does not over look heading into Beanpot Monday. After taking 0 points out of a weekend where we should have hoped for at least 3 going into. If we said BU is a bad team, PC is as bad as Al's in game coaching. Thus far we have beat them twice 3-1 & 4-1 and they are 3-10-1 in their last 14. Their best player is Alex Beaudry their goaltender who leads HE in Save % at 92.7% and is 2nd in HE at 2.40. The Atkinson, Gibbons, & JWhit line really clicked in the 2nd matchup two weeks ago accounting for 3 goals and 4 assists that night.

This goalie rotation confused everyone last week with Milner starting against BU. If I had my way we would start:
PC @ BC: Muse
Harvard @ BC: Milner
BC @ UMass: Muse
2nd round beanpot: Muse

While Milner has played well we only have 4 regular Dmen and those regulars are tiring with much more ice time and that is why I want to get absolutely vital HE points with our best goalie (IMHO Muse) between the pipes.

Agreed, PC is bad and we should be able to pick up 2 points there.

The most frustrating thing about last weekend was Muse not being in net against BU and the weird bouncing-puck phenomenon at UML that prevented our guys from making crisp passes. Also our D has been terrible, but until we get Cross and Wey back, there's not much we can do.

PC Hockey is good for what ails you. Tim Army has 91 losses there to date and their fans have a countdown to 100 going on. I've been at both games and they only showed up for 1 period.

OTOH, I wish the goalie situation had a bit of flexibility. I would have preferred Muse vs. BU.

We can easily beat PC and we desperately need the points to stay in the hunt in HE. The next two weeks are tough HE point-wise because of Beanpot and only 2 HE games. We need these easy points to keep pace for home ice. I like you goaltending rotation Claver !!! I just hope our D can limp our way through the Beanpot and come out on top.

The key is definitely to get back Wey & Cross ASAP. The good thing about Wey is that he can be in skating shape while his wrist heals so it's just a matter of waiting that out. Cross, on the other hand, has had constant problems with his knees so who knows with him. It's unfortunate because our D was playing well as a unit thus far. Again during the Beanpot, tv timeouts will help our top 4 rest but you can see them tiring out towards the end of the game.

I think this would have been thought of already but the thought of moving someone back has to cross their mind. There are three people that jump to mind for me:
1) JWhit -he has done it before (last year) and plays the point on the powerplay but I can never see Jerry breaking up the line of Atkinson, Gibbons, and Whit -way too much offense coming from them three to mess with that.
2) SWhit -plays the point on the powerplay and is a good puck mover. Two problems I see with this 1) he is a freshman getting settled to the speed of the college game, will this stunt his growth? Possibly and it's not something I want to mess around with. 2) His size (5'7" 165) could clearly be a problem.
3) Lombardi -I think he is the most logical case, he's on the checking line that doesn't produce much, if any offense. He is a physical presence and a solid skater. Not sure if he's ever done it before (probably not) but PC isn't good and if there was a time to try it -it would be tomorrow.

HOCKEY NIGHT GUYS time to have an easy tune-up for the Beanpot !!!!!! Looking for a solid 60 minutes and I’ll say we cruise to a 5-2 win.........about 6 hours until faceoff can't wait

This will be important as we have to stop giving up easy points in HE. I also want to see the PP get some shots on net -place Smith/Hayes/Kreider in front of the net. Smith & Kreider have great hands in front and Hayes is a load to move. I'll post lines from the game once I get them.

Agreed, I just want to see 60 mintues -we play our game for 60 minutes we'll cruise. Beaudry is a very, very good goalie though so might be a while before we crack through but doubt that he'll be able to withhold the attack for 60 minutes -look at last time we played he played well and we scored 4 goals (on 45 shots).

Same old same old when it comes to the PP……If we blast it from the point and try to get the puck on net as much as we can we’re successful……if they pass the puck around until everyone is dizzy because their trying to make a sportscenter goal FORGEDDABOUbdIT ….sorry for my Italian
