Hockey East regular season champs. I don't give a shit if they're not giving out a trophy because of covid. This team is without question the class of the league.

From the Hockey East website’s page on this year’s regular season:
At the conclusion of the regular season, the team with the highest Hockey East Power Index will be declared the 2020-21 Regular Season Champion and awarded the regular season trophy.
.

The league came up with the HEPI after they started playing, so what’s the new BS about not awarding the trophy?

I think the players do. They piled onto Knight the way you do after you win a title. Not sure why HEA scrubbed the trophy.

I think the BC opponent will be determined based on the opening round results from the 2 games on Wednesday. I’m looking at the Schedule on the HE website.

UNH Sun 4:30 on NESN

BC split two overtime games with UNH. It’s not going to be an easy game, UNH won at Maine 7-2.
With Knight, BC just needs to focus on not turning over the puck in the neutral zone. We have plenty of big forwards that can cycle and score. Get a lead and the ice will open up for the long stretch passes.

Go Eagles!

Well, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest chokes in BC history which s saying something if you consider the various and sundry ways BC has choked over the years.

4-4 with 3 minutes left and BC looking panicky and for an excuse to quit.

And then Captain Clutch with the go ahead with 2 minutes and change left. Will be interesting to see if they can hold on.

And then BC chokes again. 5-5 with 1:18 left. They look absolutely pathetic on defense and Knight looks lost at the worst possible moment of the year.

It was offsides. That was a major choke. 4 or 5 terrible goals.

A huge choke. It would appear Spencer Knight is Corey Schneider Part Deux. Enormous talent that gags when the pressure is on. He couldn’t stop a beach ball from the 3rd period on and the rebounds he was giving up were ridiculous. As BC has never won a National Championship without winning the Hockey East it is safe to say that you can snooze the NCAAs this year.

I can stomach this abortion of a loss only because the Rangers are up 3-0 against the Flyers but they’ll probably blow the 3 goal lead too.

Well I stand corrected. The Rangers scored two more and Philly pulled their goalie. Unlike our Eagles

Agree. I actually just wrote something similar on Twitter. for a program that has had a lot of success over years-the team have also had some epic, mind blowing losses. Most painful for me will always be 98 against Michigan and 00 against North Dakota. Way too many other games to pick from for third place.

It’s not one game this year or the last 5 years and it certainly is not some game 20 years ago against a powerhouse North Dakota team. Up until 5 years ago BC always had at least 3 stay at home defenseman the likes of Orpik, Alberts, Cross, Dhoumlin, etc. Then Brown convinces JY to go with smaller puck moving defenseman and BC has not won shit since that structural shift. We give up a ton of grade A scoring chances between the dots. It’s going to be painful watching UMass win the tournament and God forbid get placed in a regional with BC.

This team has 5 offensive defenseman and one mediocre stay at home defenseman in Karow. The 5-8 140 pound Lovell is useless in the dzone. On offense they have one line. The 2nd and 3rd lines could not even score against the 7 seed! Break up Ambrosio and Nestarenko. They have similar styles, put Giles with one of them and Kuntar with the other. You need a wing that can win the battles on the wall and in the corners and feed pucks to Ambrosio and Nestarenko.

Let’s hope JY can convince the big 3 of Boldy, Newhook and Helleson to come back for one last hurrah and send JY out with a NC at the Garden next year. Bring in at least one stay at home defenseman via the portal to shore up the defense.

Go Eagles!

Gross. Terrible draw. Perhaps being a team that starts strong will be helpful for BC in pulling ND out of their shell/trap game and force them to play a game they don't want to play. Jeff Jackson will at least not be able to cry about Hockey East refs.

It sucks having to draw a Jeff Jackson team that plays a craptacular style, but they're a four seed because they're not terribly good. If BC is disciplined, smart and skate hard, they should win this game handily.

This is one of the largest teams York has ever fielded, even on defense. Comparing all the D1 teams, they're 14th in the country in height and 15th in weight. Their biggest problem - they're dead last in average age.

Karow is listed at 6'2", 210, St. Ivany at 6'3", 200; Helleson at 6'3', 190, and 7th d-man Andres is 6'1", 195. Yes, Lovell is too small, but even Warren and Powell (who's better than expected) are 5'11". Helleson is +24, Warren is +16, Powell is +15. Stephen Davis (all 6'0"/216 of him), who decided to play for the Halifax Mooseheads, is lighting it up to the tune of a -14 in the Q. Look at the 2001team - besides Orpik, they didn't have huge d-men.

What I saw against Lowell was BC's large forwards slumping off guys who were taking shots from between the top of the circles and the line, probably because they were up by three goals, possibly were told to keep the play in front of them and to the outside, and most importantly - they didn't expect Knight to have his worst game in an Eagles uniform. Luckily, we saw him have a crappy game to start off the World Juniors, and he bounced back pretty well from that. He's mentally tough.

As far as the forwards, McLaughlin, Nesterenko, and McBain are #'s 2-4 in scoring, and Ambrosio (who I think has hit the freshman wall) is tied for 6th. Losing Hutsko's experience, speed and point-per-game production really hurts, but they have depth that we haven't seen for a few years.

Yes, they could get knocked out in round 1 because of ND's neutral zone trap as low-scoring games are common in the tourney, but I'll take my chances with Jerry.

Rant over. Go Eagles. :screamyeagle

You’re absolutely right about the forwards playing defense or lack there off. Kuntar is back on the 3rd line with Giles and McLaughlin. That should be a strong two way line for us. Forwards need to be more physical in the d-zone. Finish checks, knock guys off the puck.

We don’t have a shutdown dman the likes of Orpik, Cross, Dumolin, Pietrecki, etc. Helleson is as close as we get and St. Ivany and Karrow are decent. We lose to many battles in our own zone. When we commit unforced turnovers in the neutral zone we spend endless time chasing the puck in our d-zone. They are still a young team and learning JY’s system. With 3 media timeouts each period (2 minutes long), JY will shorten the bench. 5 defenseman and spot the 4th line. With Knight we don’t need to force anything through the neutral zone. We’ll get plenty of scoring chances by playing smart JY hockey. Protect the puck, puck possession time backed up by Knight can hold the best of our opponents to 2 goals.

Go Eagles!
