HJS {l Wrote}:Seems that it has been years since BC has been Frozen Four-worthy. I think it's fair to wonder whether Jerry has lost his fastball.

It certainly seems like he hasn't been able to put together a true contender, but we are only two years removed from the Frozen Four team that lost 3-2 to a Quinnipiac team made up of 25 and 26 year olds.

He got burned by the Eichel decision, Hanifin, and Milano and we've felt those ripples for a while now. A similar performance next year and I think we can start to worry.

claver2010 {l Wrote}:outside of woll, just not a whole lot of talent on the roster.

They need more talent, but also need their young talent to develop. I don't think Woll's had a great year, either.

Kim and Jesper have been fine; McInnis and Moore, not so much. Fitzgerald brings offense, but he's -5. Lohan was slow, but in only 14 games, he was +7, with 25 blocks. I'm not surprised they've done worse since he got injured. It's a very young defense, and they make bad decisions trying to clear the d-zone.

That first line is pretty talented.

The rest is pretty much a dumpster fire

madigan's got a hell of a team, congrats nospace

probably should save this commentary for a month or so but it's amazing how little quinn is able to do with all the talent he assembles every single year

I definitely heard the "well we've got guys at the Olympics so we're depleted" excuse yesterday.

Sure, Jordan Greenway's your whole team. Tell yourself that.

Eeli Tolvanen had a goal and three assists in the Olympic opener, and has 17-17-34 in the KHL so far. He would have really helped.

Hockey East Regular Season Champions. Amazing that they are 17-6 in conference play and have no chance of making the tournament without winning the tournament. Almost as amazing as their inability to win a single game out of conference.

Also, Maine is a dirty, dirty team and the Frenchie cheap shot artist Lacroix deserves a two hander across his forearm. Was gratified to see McPhee crush the Maine kid who tried to low bridge him.

this is out of left field no?

@MikeMcMahonCHN

BREAKING: Merrimack will announce today that Mark Dennehy will not return as head coach of the men's hockey program. Dennehy was informed following last night's Game 2 loss to Boston College in overtime.

I'm surprised to hear it. Unless there's classroom issues, I don't see what sort of expectations their administration has for their hockey program besides what Dennehy has done so far. Small D-2 school, doesn't have outstanding academics, facilities (including the smallest rink in the conference) still suck, no D-1 history before Dennehy to speak of...

Merrimack is delusional. Dennehy wrung about as much as you could get out of the program. Darrell Scoville was a friend of mine back in the day. He’s one of maybe seven Mack players to ever play in the NHL and played on one of their better teams pre-Dennehy. He told me that Mack had no business playing in the Hockey East—he only went there because they gave him four years, he only had offers from some of the low rent Michigan schools and he thought it would be cool to go to school in Boston—because the facilities are a joke and outside of being outside of Boston there is no draw, academic or otherwise to the school.

Good luck finding anyone decent to take the job.

Not feeling super confident about the HE tourney based on Merrimack being a hard out for us, but who knows.

You want the 5 PM game. Assuming that at least one game goes into overtime (extremely likely), you don’t want to be team with less rest.

I agree completely. I think half of the Merrimack fans get it, half don't. Six 20 loss seasons in the eight years prior to his arrival. I'd be happy if we could ship UConn to another league, but barring that, send Merrimack to the Atlantic, where they belong.

didn't have the horses this year, especially at the top end.

they were completely outplayed during regulation and got multiple consecutive calls to go their way to make it to OT.

played great in OT but just couldn't finish.

would've been interesting to see how this season would've played out w eeli

oh well, should be armed for '18-'19 with this class coming in.

Of course, BU, North Dakota and Princeton all won. The guy who should be really concerned right now is Brown. He had better hope to God that the incoming class is as good as advertised and there are no low character kids like Milano and Bracco who end up destroying the class. If it doesn’t work out as planned, I would assume that Jarmond will decide that Coach Champion’s preferred succession plan is beginning to look more like Lenny’s disastrous succession plan with Brown as Cedorchuk and look elsewhere.

Is Brown the primary recruiter now?

That is what I was told by someone very close to Coach Cav. It is on Brown now and has been since Cav left for UCONN.

Hanifin and Milano would be seniors, Bracco a junior, and of course Tolvanen would have been a great talent. This team was meant to be built around them. Jerry got burned by Milano and Hanifin leaving early and not getting Eichel because he didn't want a one and done. This team should hopefully be better next year.
