East Regional in Providence 2015

OK I got my ticket today and good to go for Saturday

BC plays at 3 PM

Not expecting anything but hoping for a BC win.

At least they're in the dance and lucked out to be in this regional.

A 20-win season is an accomplishment for this group and anything else is gravy

But I'm not expecting DU to play a 5-man trap either like UVM

We knew this year would be tough vs last season, but with Hanifin, Matheson, McCoshen & Santini on the blue line, this team should be capable of winning a lot of games. Hopefully that includes four more.

Powerplay needs to get going, on a team with cencentrated high end talent (about 2 lines worth) and the skill on the back end it should be better 2-18 over the last month. 7th in HE this season.

DU's PK is pretty mediocre as well at 84%

Not worried about keeping pucks out of the net, I'm worried about scoring. No one can really finish on this team. I thought Fitzgerald would provide us with some of that, but he kind of disappeared for a stretch during Hockey East play.

When BC loses, they typically commit a ridiculous amount of penalties. This is my primary concern, I think the scoring issues were crappy puck luck combibed with UVMs awful style of play.

Commit 8 penalties or whatever on Saturday and it will be over very fast

I agree about the PP but they tend to do the same thing on each PP. They pass a lot and can't seem to get shots on net waiting for the perfect setup. When #5 is on the PP, it is a problem with his decision making with the puck. On the PP it is better to see #5 as a forward while Hanifin or someone else hangs on the blue line who makes better decisions with the puck and does not make gaffes like #5. When you don't break the 4-man box they will let you pass forever back and forth and you end up with only 1 or 2 shots on net during the PP.

As far as scoring when you don't score a lot of goals you have to take shots on net and not give up chances to shoot, especially if you're in the zone near the net. I like to see more quick one-timers from the blue line or inside the blue line with traffic out front to screen the goalie and to pick up rebounds more from the forwards. When you give the goalie time he will set for the shooter better and track the puck better. I want to see more Bobby Allen type slapshots.

i wouldn't be thrilled if i was a bu fan with my draw

playing at 2:00 in an empty manchvegas against the best defensive team & the goalie with the best GAA & most shutouts and if you win you probably play the most talented team in teh country that's starting to heat up

that sucks. would love for BC to be the one to knock out BU....but also rather be safe than sorry. plus a one-and-done would've been pretty fun.

LET'S GO EAGLES

We look abysmal. Taking penalties and firing wrist shots from 60 feet is not good hockey

What the hell happened on DU's 2nd goal? We're at the opposite corner, and they're not showing a replay in the building.

Thank god this season is over.

This team has sucked from the get go and I hope most of these guys aren't back.

Demko is a disappointment too.

Once you accept that this team isn't very talented at offense, which I did a while ago, this team was fine to watch. The effort was good but the talent at forward is horrific.

Some of these defenseman, although good individually, need to leave.

Disagree on Demko, he gets no help from some of these right wings we call defenseman.

Mercy killing off a horrible offensive team and a sloppy defensive one. It is Albany lax season. They win 25 to 0 while I was watching bad hockey.

I don't think the effort was that good this year. You could even see the difference in this game - two minutes to go, BC starts flying around, going to the net, etc. Where was that for the other 58 minutes? This BC team lost battles all over the ice, and simply got beat to loose pucks.

Demko does give up the occassional softie, but he's still young and he had no chance on at least three of their goals, as the team hung him out to dry.

This team needs an infusion of talent up front, and heart.

It's not effort, the forwards are just really slow in all seriousness. BC has two good forwards, the rest are all over the place or just flat out bad.

Hockey is a big chemistry sport, and the chemistry just seemed screwed up all year.

I know it's not fair to blame the D since they also have to try and score every goal for the team, but outside of Hanifan, none of those guys have a chance against NHL forwards.

Denver was also very good.

Lastly, the officiating in college hockey needs to be addressed. I have no clue what BC did to deserve either of the first two penalties. The tackle in the second period in the offensive zone was as blatant as it gets. Lastly, I nearly lost my mind when the Denver played tripped our Dman and fired the puck into the empty net.

Denver probably wins the game anyway, but the officiating was really bad and BC got the short-end of every call.

Agreed, BC wasn't winning this game, but the trip before the empty-netter was a horrible non-call.

What did you think of the call that led to BU's winning goal tonight?

The forwards are better than Boyle, Hayes brothers and even Kreider when they just freshman and sophomores. Unlike those now NHL players this group had no senior talent or even junior talent to let them develop on the 3rd and 4th lines. There is no Johnny Hockey, but BC is going to be very good the next 2 years. Wait until you see the talent coming in next season and the development strength wise of our freshman and sophomores.

100% the right call. You can't tackle a player, even in the last 4 minutes of the game.

Someone should have told the officials that today. The first two penalties were the worst of it all, because they were horrible calls and totally took BCs legs out of the game.

That's all fine and good, but is Tuch, Hanifan, and a bunch of the other D leaving for the NHL?

Defensemen that don't play defense can fuck right off to the NHL.

agreed i don't think the effort was that bad throughout the year, as epstein said once you accept they're not that talented you'll accept this year

you can't strike out on 2 classes and expect to do the type of damage we've come to expect, especially as those classes become the 2 upper classes.

literally half the forwards that dressed every night have zero shot at scoring. i would've loved to be wrong but at this stage we have a 170 game sample size that the sit line isn't going to do shit offensively. after fitz scored to cut it to 4-2 with 4 minutes to go, Jerry throws them over the bench and it's like taking a knee for a minute.

now we wait to see who, if anyone, leaves
