claver2010 {l Wrote}:guess it's time to REFIRE this one:

wood & santini gone. a little surprising tbh

I hate to see either of them go, but especially Wood. He's not close to ready yet, but the potential to have a breakout season was there.

Who gets to host the next four Frozen Fours? Chicago (finally) and Minneapolis/St. Paul are hosting the next two, and BCI had an article that Tampa wants it Back.

I think Denver will be in the rotation (haven't hosted since '08), along with M/SP and Boston, now that BU can no longer fuck up Boston's chances. Tampa then, or some other city? Detroit has always drawn well, last hosted in '10. ASU and the Coyotes are reportedly interested in hosting. Milwaukee was a good take. I have to think Dallas would take a run at some point. Yes to NYC, or too expensive? Would they ever consider Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver?

The one thing I didn't think about with Wood is that the Devils had one more year to sign him. Not surprised that they jumped on him since size and speed wise he is built for the NHL.

Ottawa just replaced their GM. Not sure if that will play into White's decision one way or another.

Gilmour is interesting.

Full caveat i didn't expect him to leave but i don't think you can classify his college career as anything other than a disappointment. he really just never developed (and maybe that's why he's leaving when he has the offer?).

a 4th rounder who is 6'3 and received a decent amount of top 6 minutes to put up the following point totals :shrug

FR: 0.5 PPG
SO: 0.7 PPG
JR: 0.6 PPG

btw apparently white played w a broken rib which would certainly explain him slowing down.

Yeah, I think GIlmour left because the money may not be there next year. It happened with Providence's Gilmour and the Flames, who decided not to offer him a contract.

There is rumbling that McCoshen is going soon, which is no surprise. Really think that we need one of Tuch or White to stick or I start to get nervous. We just got some depth back on the forward side of things and we'll essentially be left with one guy in the soph and junior class next year in Sanford (assuming he doesn't sign too).

ETA: Obviously we have Dudeck Shero and Brown as well in the soph class for next year, but we need to start counting on one or more of those guys to step it up and play more than a depth role at that point. Which can certainly happen, but it's no guarantee.

Even if Demko stays, still a rebuild. Time to go back to recruiting smurfs - they stick around longer.

McCoshen and Calnan voted co-captains for next year. Fitz and Cango wearing the As.

Doesn't mean that McCoshen is coming back, but since it's a players vote, am wondering if they know something...

for those lining up to swan dive off the zakim, bc is returning the top 4 point scorers from this past season. that hasn't happened since the 2003-04 season

Though White is still a question mark.

I know this isn't popular, but Tuch wasn't very good. Except for two games in Worcester I was horribly underwhelmed, it was like watching Lucic play

Demko signs with the Canucks. What's the +/- for wins next year? 16 or 17?

We currently return the most points out of any HE team next team. If White had gone/does go (I don't want to jinx it) that drops us to like 4th.

I still do suspect we'll hear about McCoshen leaving in a few weeks as he is supposedly finishing up his degree and graduating this semester.

interesting news over the weekend as BC got a highly rated goalie commit for this fall from Minnesota (former Minnesota commit) ryan edquist.

interesting because they already have a top goalie coming in this fall (woll from from the usntdp) and Milosz who filled in pretty well for demko.

If Milosz wants to stick around that wouldn't be a bad thing. Not sure either freshman is a guaranteed starter right out of the gate and given our recent run of goalie concussions, it'd be good not to see Joyce sitting on the bench again, however admirably he filled in.

If McCoshen stays and we can piece together some goaltending from 3 very promising options.... I'm talking myself into expectations here.

Not necessarily. Have some top flight goaltenders coming in, and some other interesting short-term signings. And Jerry's still here.

i think they'll be fine, all depends on the monster FR class coming in I guess.

the timing was a little weird, anyone know the backstory? everyone knew / assumed he was leaving but it didn't happen until mid june

The chatter was he wanted to finish his degree first, so that may have been some of the delay. by the time exams wrapped up, I think the whole Panthers front office shakeup had happened, so maybe that delayed things on their end/he wanted to see what direction they were going.

We won't suck like Maine or UMass, but I have to think next year will be a bit of rebuilding on the fly.

not surprising but seems like white is out the door

http://www.ottawasun.com/2017/03/19/pro ... his-season

Senators have a decision to make on Colin White.

His Boston College Eagles were officially eliminated from the NCAA playoffs Saturday night with a 4-3 loss to UMass Lowell at the TD Garden which means the Senators are free to negotiate with the 20-year-old centre who would like to leave school this spring and turn pro.

Senators assistant GM Randy Lee, who is handling the talks, reached out to White’s camp after the loss and the club is weighing its options to try to determine the best route. White was a standout for Team USA at the world junior championships but that doesn’t mean he’s NHL-ready, which is why Ottawa wants to do what’s best for both sides.

Here are the possibilities:

A) Sign him to an amateur tryout: White would finish the year with the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton and would agree to an entry-level contract in the off-season. The Senators like this road because they don’t lose a year on White for free agency and the cheap contract. He could get plenty of playing time in Binghamton with the club out of the playoff picture. This is Ottawa’s preferred scenario and, if he accepts it, White could be in the lineup Friday at the Canadian Tire Centre against the Marlies.

B) Sign him to an entry-level deal: The Senators could go this route and it would be the preferred option for White. This means burning a year on his contract and the Senators would rather not do that. It will be tough for White to get playing time with Ottawa trying to clinch a playoff spot, especially with the acquisition of forwards Alex Burrows and Viktor Stalberg.

C) Back to school: It doesn’t sound like either White or the Senators wants this, so somebody will have to compromise to make sure it doesn’t occur. If he goes back to school, he’d have to play two more years before being a UFA and neither side wants that to happen.

We have a family friend who talks to Jerry on a somewhat regular basis. Every few months. He's an alum, big donor, and his son was a manager on the team when Jerry first got there.

Saw him last week at a barbecue and he said he had spoken to Jerry recently. It sounds like the eye problem is finally fixed, which is good for Jerry (bad for fans of Pirate Jerry). It sounds like Jerry is (not shockingly) very excited about this year's recruiting class and realizes that he got burned by Milano, Hanifin, etc.

I asked about Jerry retiring and while I didn't get a direct answer, I got a sense that Jerry wants to go out on top. Thought I would share this with the other resident hockey weird0z.
