I know it's tough to take much from a meaningless game 82 but good Lord are the flames bad.

Johnny was Johnny. Seeing the ice in the offensive zone, quick in transition, drawing penalties, & even shook a player behind the net. Got time on the 2nd PP unit.

Nice to see Billy win 56% of his faceoffs. Wish they would put him out a little on the PK, especially after they were down a man for 5 minutes for killing a Sedin

Edit: Saw Billy signed a 2 year deal and with the Flames burning one last night, then he's only got 1 left. Right Elvis?

Yes. He is an RFA after next season. Can't speak to whether or not he has a legitimate chance of making the team given how bad the Flames are and how meaningless the game last night was.

Gaudreau got a 3 year deal so he'll be under there control for two more seasons.

Matheson still hasn't decided according to the kid.

Him leaving would certainly leave a sizable hole on what needs to be a strength. Also would probably leave them scrambling for another body, as Hanifin is the only one coming in to replace MacLeod. I liked what I saw from Jeke back in 12-13 but would need another body.

If he doesn't leave, 68% of the returning goals come from FR. The incoming FR are going to be relied on again to provide offense.

Ah ok thanks...so that should quell concerns Woods wouldn't come until 2015. Don't see anyone else accelerating unless I missed a recruit.

Random question but did Matheson play forward growing up and transition to defense? I feel like I may have heard something about that but I'm not sure if I'm confusing him with someone on my men's league team.

Don't recall seeing that. Given his skills it wouldn't be shocking.

Yeah my guess, if any, is that he made the transition to D when he was a bantam or his second year of peewees, somewhere around there. IIRC he was always a D at Dubuque, which makes sense given his hype coming into BC.

He does a lot of things that drive you nuts, but he is talented and experienced and we only have 1 Dman coming in next year. His leaving would've have meant more Linnel, since Jeke can't seem to crack the rotation over him.
