Trying to Find Some Information

Wanted to see if someone had any information on BC reportedly recruiting a player from Gonzaga College HS in DC. It is my alma mater, and my son, who is currently there, showed me a twitter post that said that some current senior is going to BC next fall to play hockey. Given that BC never recruits in my area, I was curious to know if this was actually true.

Could be a walk-on?

Agreed if for arriving in the fall, might be a recruited walk on?

My next thought was maybe McPhee's kid goes there but apparently he's out at Shattuck

Might be Nick Platais, the goaltender, going as a walk on. From what I am told, outside of Peter Bondra's kid and a one other kid who plays for the Little Capitals, he is head and shoulders above all the other players in the area. My oldest skates is a mini-mite skating with the mites at Kettler so I have seen most of the teams here. Generally speaking, unless the kid is the son of a Capital--like Bondra, McPhee (who left DC to go to Tier 1 and then Shattatuck and next to BC) or Tinordi-- the highest end talent--maybe 1 or 2 kids per year--are good enough to play at the low-end of D1 or high end D3. Platais is the only kid I can think of for whom it wouldn't be completely preposterous.

The recruited walk-on angle makes sense. Trying to find out more information from my son.
