BC vs ND

Moving beyond Johnny and will he / won't he stay...

Here's the notebook from TOS, Bob does a good job: http://bostoncollege.rivals.com/barrier ... id=1618270 Also some notes on several recruits. Interesting tidbit on Ayers and his connection with the NTDP. Also of note on the coaching, Cav was the one who ran all the special teams and did a great job. But this year the staff hasn't missed a beat. #1 powerplay & #1 PK in HE. Add back the SHG scored (7) to the 137/150, BC's PK is at 96%

Some lineup notes, Linell was skating w the 3rd line ( :pontif ) so we might actually be playing w 6 defensemen on the blue line which is nice

Saturday's game will be at 4:00 on NESN

First time in a while that the students will be back for the QF

I still believe that we need a 2nd scoring line. Gilmour, Cangelosi and Fitz are the second team pp and should be the 2nd line. Brown with Calnan and Linell would be a very good 3rd line.

That was the problem I always had with the big line, sort of stunted the growth of Cangelosi & Fitz. Brown's scoring in February quieted that down.

Granted they've lost 1 game since Black Friday and lead the nation in scoring but agreed need others to step up in March & hopefully April.

Looks like Linell will be on the 3rd line with Sit & Smith, the 4th line will be Calnan-Gilmour-Silk. Really liked what the 3 of them were able to do for the few games they were put together back in January.

MacLeod is good to go as well.

An absolutely pathetic performance. This looks like the year they lost the 1-8 series to BU or if you go way back to the losses to Northeastern the year Steve Heinze's degenerate gambling caught up to him. Very un-Coach Champion like. And will someone tell @bchockey that no one gives a shit about Johnny's streak when the team plays with no heart.

One would think they wouldn't need motivation to play the team that killed their non-losing streak and ruined senior night but what do I know? Give sme credit to ND though...solid team who clogged passing lanes and held their grounded really well.

Here's where you get serious again, fellas. Start by gaining the zone on offense and not giving up the blue line on the other end so easily. Some of that loser karma from Scuba rubbed off here.

So after sleeping on that dumpster fire several thoughts:

1) I literally laughed out loud at Matheson's attempt at D on that 5th (?) goal
2) Team (mainly Gaudreau) needs to stop going 1 on 4 in the neutral zone. Won't work against this trap
3) On that trap, it's boring as fuck but effective. Literally lining 4 up on the blue line. There was a point in the 1st with about 4 minutes to go it was 3-2 in shots.
4) As bad as Matheson was, the entire D was pretty atrocious.
5) No question it's Demko this afternoon
6) Think we're going to see a tight bench tonight.

I'm going this afternoon and tomorrow.

Mattheson should have a play on the basketball team. He's the right height and rarely plays defense

Rewatched all the goals (because I have a problem), good lord Matheson. Impressive -5 last night before the garbage time BC goal

I wouldn't mind at all if York broke up the big line

Personally, I wouldn't like it because it reeks of panic move, but yes the other lines have gone silent. The passing on the other lines was dreadful.

Gotta give some credit to ND - watching their D is like watching the Devils in early 2000s. Just doesn't feel like a good matchup

Notre Dame is a thug team. The cheap shots in the 3rd period were awful. I was hoping Santini would cripple Costello.

He scares me when he handles the puck and tries to be slick. OK Sunday, hopefully they close the deal and send them back to South Bend with their tails between their legs.

Some more thoughts:

Think everyone thought here we go again after the goal 30 seconds in.
That powerplay in the first, even though they ddidn't score, where they fired about 10 shots on net and had possession in the zone for nearly the entire 2 minutes really got them going. 19 shots in the first, much more like it.
Lazy drop passes by Matheson, Jesus fucking Christ.
Thought Cangelosi had his best game in a while. He's a beast on the PK. Shows some great speed. That line (Fitz-Brown-Cangelosi) was very good.
On the other hand the Smith-Sit-Linell line isn't working. Only 1 goal in 2014. Wish they would've given Richardson more of a shot.
That boarding call on Santini was hilarious, you could see Santini pulled up, the hit happened in slow motion, I literally laughed out loud at how slow it happened and then of course the arm shot up for a penalty. Then the jackass stays down trying to milk a 5 out of it.

Dick, how frustrating is it that Santini was drafted by the fighting lamoriellos? Absolutely love his game. Saw a quote in the off season that when the devils use a high draft pick on a defensive defenseman you know he's pretty damn good. BTW someone needs to tell BC he's from MAYO-pack not Ma-HO-pack.

3 series in HE going to game 3, impressive.

This officiating is criminally bad.

bc could not miss more open nets if they tried. should be up 6 between that and that soft ass goal. has nothing to do with refs who just let them play

The call that negated the BC goal *and* resulted in a BC penalty was bullshit. Other than that, I agree with ualbany75k.

Was that before or after the ND players tackled them all over the ice

The officiating was disgraceful, but let's face it Demko looks like Corey Schneider V.2--an immensely physically gifted kid who can't get the job done when the heat is on.

Also, Jeff Jackson has always played dirty. For us to be unprepared for that is criminal.

Fun Fact: BC has never won a national championship without winning the Hockey East Tournament (excluding 1949). With Demko in goal I don't think they have any chance of breaking that trend.

ND deserved to win this series. A combination of bad luck (BC hit 5 maybe 6 posts this series, none went in), miserable turnovers, & not as good goaltending will do that.

Several issues that some have hit on throughout the year manifested themselves.
1) The big line for all the flashy #s, killed the growth of Cangelosi & Fitz. Even though Brown has pumped in 14 goals this year (which is amazing considering where he came from), 7 have been from special teams. Cangelosi is going to put in 20-25 goals next year.
2) I hate to rag on kids and you won't find a bigger Quinn Smith fan than I but Linell-Sit-Smith have 1 goal in 2014. With them dressing every night on the highest scoring team in the country, that's nearly impossible. They were -3. -3, & -2 last night. Again I hit on it a couple of weeks ago when Matt Gaudreau got some run against UML, I was suprised how Jerry didn't shuffle the bottom of the lineup constantly throughout the season.

On the positive side, thought Canlan-Gilmor-Silk looked awesome last night. They had the right idea against ND, get the puck deep, use you size & skill to force turnovers. Trying to go fancy 1 on 4 in the neutral zone is death against this team. Thought Doherty looked very good on the blueline, especially in the 3rd period when we needed some offense.

Again another weekend off. Whatever the coaching staff did last weekend didn't work.

Hate to bitch about the refs but by calling nothing in an attempt to not have an impact on the game, you're having an impact on the game. The amount of holding and stick crap they allowed was atrocious. Now Johnny has a rep as going down easy but could've drawn at least 5 penalties yesterday.

Hey. Remember when I was panned by some folks in this thread for suggesting that there is only a 25% chance BC makes it to the National Champs Title Game?

No, because you were not panned by anybody for making that comment.

25% chance of making the title game is pretty good odds.
