BC vs Merrimack

Postby wolverineneshl on Tue Feb 04, 2014 12:06 pm

I don't see a problem here but hopefully no more injuries before the big game on Monday night.

I was disappointed with the powerplay during the 5 minute major but hopefully they can fix that.

looking at the standings, this could really be the weekend when a lot of teams get eliminated from HE

team points (games)
BC 25 (14)
UML 17 (13)
NU 17 (14)
UNH 16 (14)
PC 15 (14)
Maine 14 (12)
UVM 10 (12)
ND 9 (13)
UMass 9 (13)
BU 8 (13)
MC 6 (13)

A win on Friday night would eliminate UVM & Providence, with the ax being sharpened for NU & UNH

I think the next 3 games with MC and Vermont will be a nice present for us, knocking off our arch rivals from the playoffs if we can sweep those 3 games.

Then Lowell 2 games and Notre Dame.

I think it's possible to win out for this team. They don't have many games left and I think they can methodically eliminate teams now that they seem to be peaking and on a roll.

The NC game with NU Monday will be tough and they're hungry for a Beanpot. But I'm hoping BC can keep on rolling to 5 Beanpots in a row.

Demko is playing well and I hope McCoshen will eventually return.

Remind me. #1 seed gets you the 4 pm game on Friday at the Garden?

Ehhhh, usually yes technically no.

It's a blend between what the coach of #1 seed wants and what NESN wants. The 8 PM game clearly gets better ratings and attendance but if the matchup is pretty equal interest wise the #1 will have the 5 PM game.

Think it was in 09 that BU was the #1 seed and the BC/BU semi was the 8 PM game and NU/UML was the 5:00 game.

Was also thinking that there's a decent chance if BU wins the play in round they might be the lowest seed remaining which would set up an interesting QF matchup...

Before we put Merrimack in the bag, and even though I think they got better at it in recent years, BC had letdowns in the Friday night game before the opening round of the Beanpot, and also the Friday night game between rounds one and two. the reason I think they have avoided some letdowns is because their recent success has taken the edge off of "needing" to win it every year, as BC was losing every year to BU. During BU's run, the beanpot was much more important to the BC players than it is now.

I don't know when York will retire but he has changed it to more more than 1 Beanpot per decade futility. Even still, we're still 11 Beanpots behind them, that's how filthy they were in this tournament.

Getting it down to single digits is quite an accomplishment when not long ago BU had more than double.

NU will not be a pushover on Monday but let's hope BC makes it the 5th in a row

I think it is still important to the players but less pressure to win, now that the CHOKE myth is over. NU and HU now hold that distinction for quite awhile now.

Very matter of fact 6-1 W

Was wishing Demko would get the shoutout, Mack had no shot against the big line. Need to see a gif of that Santini hit, what a shift

Powerplay looked good, movement and pucks to the net

Looks like NU had the mid Beanpot let down falling to umass 3-0

UMLOL is the only team that hasn't been eliminated in HE, BCs magic number for points is 4

Edit: Maine is still alive, barely

Been raving about this kid since day 1. Think I've said that already. Worth saying again.
