BC vs. UMass

Thinking of making the long drive to Amherst this Thursday. BC should be able to handle the Minutemen in both games this coming weekend. So anybody going too ???

UMass should provide more of a challenge than Army. I am still mystified by the Doherty and Linell situation. I'm getting the idea that maybe Doherty is in the doghouse for something.

I was disappointed in Santini's suspension not because of the penalty but because it was so unnecessary in a blowout game. Bad judgement and a learning experience for him.

Good luck with that. The Mullins Center is an absolute hell hole.

UMass just got ass blasted in a home and home against UNH, combed score 13-1. They're the worst defensive team in HE by a wide margin and one of the worst in the country. If you want a good chuckle look at this goalie's stat line, 0-2-0 10.57 GAA, .667 save % http://www.uscho.com/stats/player/mid,2 ... /#20132014.

Granted it's early but with the limited HE games this year (only 20 vs. 27) getting 4 points this weekend and sitting at 5-0-0 at the quarter mark would be huge to separate from the large middle in HE.

OK I just stopped by the ticket office today and bought 1 ticket for Thursday and 1 for Orono when they play Maine.

What do you mean when you say Mullins is a hell hole ? The fans ? The facility ? What ?

Dear God, I went 2 years ago. What a hell-hole. I've never heard so many swear words directed at me by a seven year old while his morbidly obese father oozed over two or three chairs with his creepy smile. We were sitting in the BC section and Deliverance and his son were just the cherry on top of the shit fan base that infects that arena.

I'd tell the butler to bring the bullet proof car, just as I will when we head to Yukon next year. I think they only teach 1 word out in Amherst and it starts with F. You'll be able to hear it loud and clear for 60 minutes on the radio.

Anyways with Santini suspended for Thursday night, Doherty is in which will be a good opportunity for him.

UMass's starting goalie Mastalerz is questionable for the series, he's actually pretty good. If he can't go it'll probably be the guy with the 10.67 GAA.

UMass is not good but we've struggled out there in the past. IIRC, last year we were down 3-0 and came back to win in the 3rd. Edit: Sort of recall correctly, down 3-0 heading into the 3rd and 4-2 in the 3rd then Mullane scored 2 goals in the final 3:16 and Gaudreau won it in OT.

Sounds like Mastalerz is out, so the goalie with the 10+ GAA will be in net :whiteflag

Watch him pitch a shoutout

Can someone who is there settle a bet for me about what kind of cheese Mullins smells like?

Solid road W at a place, despite the record, hasn't been the easiest.

In the 3rd after UMass had scored a goal to tie it up at 2, York called a timeout and asked the refs to review if the UMass player was offsides. They did and he was (BCI has a good gif of this that shows 2 players offsides), and the goal got taken off the board. Apparently that being reviewable is new this year and the UMass side didn't know it, they acted like dominOJ would if Skinner had lost against Toledo.

BC had to kill the last 90 seconds of the game shorthanded and really didn't allow UMass to gain the zone until ~15 seconds. Awesome job. After last night's 7-7, the PK is up to 92% in conf.

Gaudreau had a goal to give him 10 in 10 games.

Demko has a slight hamstring pull and is out for ~a week, tough but no need to force him back.

Nice, def offsides, I thought the question was whether it was reviewable in the regular season.

Hoping for the home and home sweep tonight. Bring a food donation.

UMass played much better than last weekend. This goalie was much better than the other sieve. UMass definitely plays BC tough at home.

I think that's the argument. The UMASS people seem to be focusing only Rule 93.4 and allowing it only during the Tournament, but I think Rule 93.1 governs the entire section on Video Replay and allows it in any game.

Rule 93 - Video Replay
93.1 Video Replay - The use of video replay is permissible in any game
using either of the following procedures:
93.2. NCAA Championship Procedures - In order to reverse an on-ice ruling,
the replay must include conclusive video evidence. One of the following
criteria must be met for replay to be used:
• A puck crossing the goal line.
• A puck entering the net before the goal frame is dislodged.
• A puck entering the net before or after expiration of time at the end of
a period, a whistle, or referee’s determination that play has stopped.
• A puck directed into the net by a hand or a distinct kicking motion.
• A puck deflected into the net by an official.
• A puck directed or deflected into the net by a high stick.
• To correctly identify individuals who participated in a fight or
committed an infraction.
• To establish the correct time on the clock, or to determine the correct
location of a faceoff.
• To determine if an attacking player was illegally in the goal crease
and physically or visually prevented the goalkeeper from defending
the goal when the puck entered the goal cage.
• To determine if a goal was scored as the direct result of a hand pass
or high stick by an attacking player to a teammate or deflection off
of the goalkeeper.
• To determine if a goal was scored, as a direct result of the puck
deflecting off of the protective netting above the glass, by the first
team to gain possession of the deflected puck.
All goals will be reviewed by the video replay official. Play shall not
resume before the on-ice official verifies the review.
The video replay official may request to review a potentially nondetected
goal.
A team may use its timeout for the purpose of reviewing situations that
are in the video replay criteria or a potentially non-detected goal. If the
challenge is successful, the team retains its timeout. This timeout policy
applies to any video replay procedure used.
The on-ice official makes the final decision.
Note: See Appendix C for complete policies and procedures.
93.3 On-Ice Official Procedure - The referee may use a video monitor located
at ice level to review any of the criteria in Rule 93.2. In this procedure,
only the Referee may initiate a review. The on-ice official makes the final
decision
93.4 NCAA Tournament Competition - During NCAA competition that is
televised and where a video replay official is in use, game officials may
use replay to correct an error on calling an offside or too many players on
the ice that directly leads to a goal.

It's shocking to me that a bunch of UMass alum and students can't interpret rules.

2 goals waved off and a 5 min major and a game DQ for excessive roughness Good job hockey east

Here's the hit in question Image

Santini is now gone for 2 games, this could become a serious issue in the 2nd half
