Being reported on the twitter box that Cav has entered "final negotiations to be the next UConn hockey coach"

That would disappoint me and would hurt his chances of ever being the HC at BC if Topo Gigio has any influence in future hires.

HMMM... A BC ASSISTANT TAKING A YANKEE CONFERENCE SCHOOL WITH NO HOCKEY AND BRINGING IT INTO HOCKEY EAST. CAV SHOULD ASK JOEY MALLON HOW THAT WORKED OUT. BE CAREFUL CAV. COULD BE A TICKET TO A LONG TERM GIG IN THE ISL.

Maybe he'll end up at Thayer, that's a short drive from Scituate.

Not sure. Say Cav goes to Yukon and tears it up for say 5 years and York retires? Granted "tearing it up" at Yukon might mean getting them somewhat competitive in HE.

BTW I'm sure mojs is going to love the search for replacing Cav as I'd bet the position of "assoc head coach" that Cavanaugh left will be filled by an asst coach.

BTW apparently goalie coach Jim Logue is retiring

As for his replacement:
@smclaughlin9
Hearing that BC is expected to hire Mike Ayers, currently a goalie coach w/ the USNTDP. Not sure if he'll be the only addition to BC's staff

He's coaching the projected starter for BC next year, Thatcher Demko

I always liked Rico Blasi and felt bad for him always having to run into BC, but then again that BU game, WTF?!? may be unforgivable.

Miami just gave him a 10yr extension.

I am excited to see Demko after hearing all the great publicity.

miami ohio has decided to move on from blasi

hard to believe 20 years at miami ohio, hadn't won an ncaa tourney game since '13 and made it only 1x. fittingly his last performance in ncaas was getting bounced by a HE team as a 1 seed

Happy St. Joseph's Day, you are fired. He had 4 years left on his contract! Signed a 10 year extension back in 2013. :ace

When York retires is Cav the right coach to replace him despite UConn's lack of progress ?

Good question. I could see how one could look at the results at UCONN and say "no thanks". Of course, it should be noted that York had been dragging badly his last four seasons at Bowling Green. With that said, York had won a national championship at BGSU in 1984 and had a pretty amazing run there up until 1989. He also won at Clarkson.

I think you interview Cav. You also interview Brown if he is interested. I'd say no interview for Dennehy even though he did as well as one could do at The Mack--his coaching in the AHL this year has left a lot to be desired. I think it may be wise to move outside of BC for the next one as I don't see any home grown guys who have a proven track record or any indication they can maintain the level of excellence that until recently was expected.

Agreed that you give Cav an interview. There’s ZERO commitment to hockey at UConn, and recruits would see that. No word of future funding besides (maybe) a 1,000 seat on-campus rink, sometime in the future. In the interim, you bus to Hartford for a mid-week game in an AHL arena. It’s a joke.

It would be following the David Quinn model. Assistant in the NHL back to head coach at your alma mater.
