Hayes staying for SR year, not surprising but good to have official. He's looking at a 3 month rehab after his surgeries for a blood clot

Timmay out at Maine, means only 4 coaches will have been at their school for more than 2 seasons: York, Dennehy, Umile, & Sneddon (on his way out).

Some notes from Greg Joyce on Gaudreau staying:

Wanted to get his education, play with his brother, & doesn't like how this season ended. He was under the impression that if he signed he'd go straight to Calgary.

I question where his brother fits next year, believe we have 16 forwards for 12 slots before he arrives

barring some big strides in player development over the summer it is a good idea to have some tough competition for slots.

Here is an interesting question....

Name a younger brother who was better than the older brother?

Curley bros
Gionta bros
Hayes Bros
etc...etc...

Patrick Eaves > Ben Eaves

That one is up for debate and I'm ok with that as you could make a decent argument comparing their two stints at BC, but at most points in time, from a recruit standpoint to an NHL draft standpoint to a pro career standpoint, Patrick was and/or is considered better.

But I agree, there aren't many.

I find the Dick Umile obsession with mediocre younger brothers of players that went elsewhere fascinating. Kessel, Pavelski, vanRiemsdyk, Camper, Collins and Kolanos (almost forgot about these two BC brothers).

Recently:

Obviously Atkinsons

You could debate Whitneys

Joe: 161 games 40-102-142
Steve: 160 games 55-73-128

Different players.

Joe points wise, had the awesome FR year. Think Steve at his peak was better but obviously up for debate.

I saw your tweet about attendance last night.

This must be how the Clemson fans felt watching the ACCCG in 2007.

Yeah don't want to sound like the grinch but hte narrative of the 4 new teams being "good for the game" is bullshit.

This is college hockey's biggest stage, one of the few chances at national tv (beyond NBC sports & obscure sports channels) and the rink looked like the 5:00 Beanpot game. Based on USCHO/etc it looks like people had trouble giving tickets away.

1 or 2 new teams? Agreed, very good to grow the base but 4 does nothing except push it further into obscurity.

Four no-name teams, zero local teams.

Best scenario for college hockey is some combination of BC, BU, UNH, Maine, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Denver, Colorado College, and maybe Miami in the FF.
