Dick thoughts on the Quebecois Matheson?

He's such a difference maker back there for a FR Dman

14-0 for the seniors at that place, pretty fucking impressive.

Crazy thing about Roy of the fighting Betardos was he was supposed to go to Brown until this summer

BTW Harvard has won 2 games since November, both against NU. I hope Parker stays forever

I thought Matheson was pretty damn good. Only the third time I have seen him play, he is solid on D and has some real offensive skill. I also though the line with Dryhoff played well.

Normally, I have nothing but contempt for the Quebecois, but if I am not mistaken, Mathieson is an anglophone which really makes him something entirely different from the "je me souviens" crew that all right thinking people despise.* Oh and while were at it "Fuck you Q. Fuck Trois Rivieries, Chicoutimi, Verdun. Fuck the Ramparts. Fuck the Voyageurs and all of the unemployed Asbestos miners who make every Q game a miserable experience. I only wish that Wolfe, before dying on the Plains of Abraham, had been able to burn everything in the Saint Lawrence Valley. And fuck Montcalm in the ear while we are at it.

*Two qualifiers: (1) No one despises 18-22 year old quebecois chicks who take off their clothes for money. I think much of Duchie's obvious porn problem can be traced back to his penchant for hanging out in Montreal strip clubs when we were hideously bored with BC and strated road tripping to visit Duchie's drug trafficking high school buddy who lived up in Burlington. (2) I love meeting quebecois in France. What most people don't understand is that Quebecois french is essentially French as spoken in the mid-18th century (when Samuel Champlain's colony was cut off from the Motherland). The only thing that angers a Parisian more than an arrogant American who refuses to speak even a coherent word of French while ordering 10K Euro bottles of Chateau Lafitte Rothchilde at the overrated restaurant at the Intercontinental, is a bumpkin quebecois saying the french equivalent of "Salutations to the day good sir. I desireth a tankard of mead before I seek carnal relations with the Alewife." They react with the sort of horror Americans normally reserve for a conversation with someone from West Virginia. Admittedly, globalization is slowly destroying the anachronisms inherent to the quebecois patois, but for now it still exists and is delightful to behold. Sacrement! Chalice!

Yeah was looking for the reaction above knowing his disdain for the quebecois

He's the most offensively developed FR on D I can remember, he's got a ways to go before he's Dumoulin in his own end but some of the shit he pulls with the puck is unfair for an 18 year old FR

The step Dyroff's line has taken the past couple of weeks to at least put some offensive pressure is huge

They didn't get any goals, but to an untrained eye, their play stood out. That said, I never felt like BC was going to score when the first two lines were not out there

Your untrained eye is spot on.

This is the shallowest offensive team BC has put out there since probably the dreaded 2008-09, not much consistently beyond the top 5 that's why the 2 from Quinn last week & Pat Brown's tonight was huge. Granted we were spoiled where we had 3rd lines littered with 1st rounders and 15+ goal scorers.

I demand a youtube clip of Johnny's sequence of first undressing a defenseman and then later deking another poor puppy so badly he fell down.

Sadly neither ended in him putting the puck in the net, but they were both absolutely filthy.

I see some potential on that third line, but yeah, it feels like they have two scoring lines and two scrapping lines. To what do you attribute the lack of scoring, are they missing depth at center? Seemed like the first line gets their best opportunities on sharp cross ice passing and give and goes, the second line works with the little dudes setting things up behind the net and feeding off of Goudreau's talent (really like Linell's game), and the other lines don't seem to have an identity, but they hustle and crash the net.

Like I said, only the 4th game I have watched, so my observations are based on limited exposure.

Nice two-handed slash by #44 there on Matheson.

Complete with the 1980s-esque defensemen that couldn't move laterally.

Don't mean to EPSTEINPOST but beyond the 2nd line not a ton of offensive talent yet. Really outside of Gaudreau in the last 2 classes there aren't BC typical offensive players, there are some very valuable pieces but they haven't taken the steps offensively for various reasons. After the Maine abortion of a weekend, the bottom 2 lines were averaging ~1 point per game combined. Almost comically bad.

Really since then they've started to at least put in pressure and ultimately pot some goals (Quinn w 3 in last 3 games, Brown last night, etc). As you touched on Linell shows some skill and his goals are usually of the highlight variety, hopefully putting him with Gaudreau & Mullane can jump start him

Matheson makes such a difference back there as well.

BTW here's a video on York BC put together, well worth the time

Apparently titles in 2008 and 2012 were due to us losing to Maine twice in a weekend. We did it again this year...
