yukon/Quinnipiac

Postby BCSUPERFAN22 on Sat Feb 02, 2013 7:54 pm

What was the rationalization behind inviting yukon rather than Quinnipiac to the Hockey East ?

Q play in a beautiful 6 year old stadium and have a top 10 program. The puppiez are going to be playing in front of 400 people at the Civic Center which should have been imploded a decade ago and dont have a full roster of scholarship players (not even mentioning a .500 record in the AHA aside).

Was there a particular selling point to the yukonn program over Quinnipiac ?

Growth potential. Yukon should be a good team if they pour enough resources into the program. They certainly have a fertile recruiting ground and even picking off fringe Connecticut prep school guys will probably yield a mediocre team. Throw in the alumni base and the idea that they'll fill the Whalers void (a bunch of bullshit IMO) and, voila, welcome puppies.

This. They're never going to consistently compete with BC/UNH/BU (/Maine if they can get their shit back together) but there's no reason they can't be a solid mid-level HEA, UMass/Northeastern/Lowell-type program.
