Looks like this is happening.

http://themackreport.com/merrimack-a-likely-candidate-for-frozen-fenway

Last week, Red Sox COO Sam Kennedy told me that the team was in the planning stage of bringing Frozen Fenway back to the Fenway Park for the winter of 2014.

“We are deep into the planning phase for the possibility of a return of Frozen Fenway in 2014,” Kennedy said. “We will need to secure proper City approvals and complete our negotiations with the many teams who are interested in competing before we will have any formal announcement.”

Hockey East commissioner, in an interview with Merrimack radio’s Mike Machnik on Friday night, confirmed that the league was hoping for the event to return, and that he hoped the teams without prior exposure to the event would be included.

According to several people, Merrimack College is likely to be involved in the event should it be approved and planned.

The preliminary plan, as I’ve been told by several sources, is for Boston College and Notre Dame to play in the nightcap with Merrimack and Providence likely the early game. UMass Lowell is likely to get a game as well.

The plan would give Merrimack, Providence and Lowell – the three teams who have yet to participate in the event – a game on the Fenway ice.

Once again BC is needed in the doubleheader to sell the place out, hate that for the 3rd time in a row we're giving up a home game. BC was undefeated at home in the 2012 calendar year.

I agree that I don't like giving up a home game although we're 2 for 2 in winning national championships after playing at Fenway that year, so I don't mind it too much. Maybe talk to ND about moving their 2015 home game against us to Wrigley (could be a doubleheader with some combination of B1G schools/North Dakota).

CONFIRMED!

http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/pre ... r25fen.php

BOSTON - The City of Boston, Hockey East Association, and Fenway Sports Management (FSM), today announced Frozen Fenway 2014, a two-week series of hockey and ice skating events, including two Division I men's college hockey doubleheaders, and two free public skating days for City of Boston residents.

"We are excited about the return of hockey to Fenway Park," said Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna. "We are particularly pleased that with these two doubleheaders, all of our men's programs will have had the opportunity to experience Frozen Fenway, including the University of Notre Dame, our newest member."

On Saturday, January 4, 2014, the Hockey East league games will feature Merrimack College against Providence College, followed by Notre Dame against Boston College. The Eagles are the only Hockey East team to play in all three Frozen Fenway events since they began 2010. Boston College and Notre Dame have met 32 times in series history dating back to 1969. This will be Notre Dame and BC's first meeting as conference rivals. The Friars and Warriors have met 117 times with Providence leading the all-time series with a 78-30-9 record.

The following Saturday, January 11, UMass Lowell will face Northeastern University. The second game of the doubleheader will highlight the University of Maine against Boston University. This year, the River Hawks earned their first Hockey East regular-season and tournament championships in school history, and made their first appearance in the Frozen Four under Division I National Coach of the Year Norm Bazin. UMass Lowell leads the all-time series against Northeastern, 57-40-8, and are unbeaten in five straight meetings against Northeastern (4-0-1). The Black Bears and Terriers have played 119 times, with Boston University holding a 58-48-13 advantage in the all-time series. BU owns a 18-6-5 mark in the 29 meetings since the beginning of the 2005-06 season vs. the Black Bears.

If the 2015 BC@ND football game will be played in Ireland, will the hockey teams follow?

BTW here are the prices through BC:

There are 2 pricing options lower level seating for $50 and will be located in the Infield Grandstand, Loge Box and Outfield Grandstand

The other pricing option is $75 and will be located in the State Street Pavilion Club, Coca-Cola Corner Pavilion Reserved. There is no limit to how many you can buy.

Not sure if there are other season ticket holders but they f'd up the renewal process. Some got emails on July 11th, some didn't but the renewal deadline is August 16th

Claver, what is the easiest way to join the Pikes Peak Club? I am not a season ticket holder, but when I do come up for a few games a year I do enjoy the Shea room during intermissions.

I agree about losing a home game and in my opinion, I'd rather see a game in a venue built for hockey, not in a baseball park in the middle of winter, freezing in the cold in seats hard to follow the game.

I'd rather drive up to Lowell or Mathews to watch a game on the road. Even for baseball, Fenway is antiquated with those obstructive poles in the grandstands and spending 285 million to update it is wasted than using that to build a new park with the same Fenway with the green monster and all but with no obstruction and seats facing the right way instead, and better amenities, more seats, etc.

For that reason, I plan to watch it on TV.

Time to renew my season tickets and I plan to head over to Conte to renew my tickets.

I believe you can go on the BC website and join Pikes Peak. I think I did that last year through the web site.

Yes, you can, I just renewed my season tickets and Pikes Peak online ))

I think you can join online whether you're a season ticket holder or not. It's $250 for the season and you get 2 passes to go upstairs.

While I had joined last year using the link provided, I didn't get any notification of Pikes Peak renewal and link provided isn't working this year.

Was there a new method of payment this year?
