Nice. I like that it is specifically for the coaching position, but Gene will probably just cut the hockey budget $5m.

BTW coach champion had a great line on NESN last night, "We want our players to leave here with a diploma in one hand and a ring in the other."

Since it's an endowment to enlarge the head coach's salary, it will doubtless be useful when the evil day comes and BC has to hire one.

This is great insurance in case Gene outlasts Jerry. Jerry's successor will get paid well; Gene can't cheap out and hire someone who will kiss the ring.

It's no coincidence that the most successful program at BC is the one that Gene has the least amount of involvement.

Wild guess: the Doug Brown branch of the Mara family. Keep it anonymous since his son is on the team, and his brother is an assistant coach.
