Nah. We hit the post twice and Fleury spent the entire 3rd standing on his head. Game 6 is a must-win, but it's in Philly....this ends Sunday.

Which means he could not return for the Cup Finals, even if every series goes the full 7 games. Sounds about right.

Quarters: 3 games left

Semis: 7 games

WCF: 7 games

Cup Finals: 7 games

24 games left, total. If you count the Game 4 he missed on Thursday, that's 25.

Torts effed them by switching up the lines, keep Kreider with Gaborik & Richards, at least Hagelin is back next game. I hope Mitchell sits.

40 blocked shots with no Pronger, no Grossmann, no Meszaros, hell no Mark Andre Bourdon. That's insane.

Hopefully that was Cory's last game in Vancouver, I'm sure they'll try to trade Luongo but I can't imagine his value is sky high.

They hit on it during the broadcast but the 2014 US team is going to have a heavy college representation (especially in net with probably Miller, Quick & Cory)

We have two potential elimination games tonight: NYR @ Ottawa (7PM ET on NBC Sports/CBC) and Phoenix @ Chicago (9PM ET on CNBC/TSN). I'm thinking both NYR and Chicago extend their respective series to a game 7. I'll really go out on a limb and say OT in Chicago would be unsurprising.

Howard would be the other goalie battling with Schneider for the number 3 spot so, regardless, there's going to be all college goalies.

As a life-long Ranger fan, I expect them to fail miserably. Also, nice to see Shanahan does nothing about Neal's cheap shot on Boyle. I was talking to a guy who works for MSG--they are considering a campaign against Shanny.

I guess you could argue for a two-minute because it was a little late but he hit him in the chest and didn't launch, like at all. Sometimes bad things happen on clean hits.

I think Tortorella's comparison to the Torres hit was probably not an accurate comparison (Torres was like a foot off the ground, Neil barely left his skates if at all and it doesn't look like he went for the head as obviously and Neil doesn't have Torres' rap sheet, which I don't think should come into play in whistles on ice but probably should in suspensions), but I'm not sure the hitter should get the benefit of the guy he's hitting being 6'7 245, I hate that Hossa's star power relative to Boyle plays into things, and as everyone everywhere has said result in injury should not be taken into account, while I don't think he should have gotten anywhere near a 25 game type suspension at least 1 would seem more right than nothing to me.

I doubt any kind of campaign by MSG would work as the Flyers owners being NBC-Comcast doesn't seem to get them any special or even equal treatment.

Shanahan's dart board of punishments came up empty.

It was late, blindside, & high but I think the comments postgame by the Sens were worse than the hit, saying they "finished the job on Boyle". I hope Rupp rearranges his face, once he gets out of the box Bickle further does such & then Prust ends his career.

Regarding the goalies, I think until he shows signs of slowing down drastically, Thomas is a shoe-in. The Americans under consideration would be Jimmy Howard, Craig Anderson (proven playoff goalie), and possibly Al Montoya if he has a big 2012-2013 season with a team other than the Islanders. I would also consider John Blue for old time's sake.

For shits and giggles:

Goalies:

Ryan Miller (MI, Michigan State)
Jonathan Quick (CT, UMass)
Tim Thomas (MI, UVM)
or
Jimmy Howard (NY, Maine) if TT slows down or there is an injury to one of the above, who are incidentally the same three that were on the roster in 2010

Forwards(asterisks next to the natural centers):

Ryan Kessler (MI, Ohio State)*
Patrick Kane (NY, OHL)
Zach Parise (MN, North Dakota)

Joe Pavelski (WI, Wisconsin)*
Bobby Ryan (NJ, OHL)
Phil Kessel (MI, Minnesota)

Davis Backes (MN, Minnesota State)*
Dustin Brown (NY, OHL)
Jason Pomminville (from QC but dual-citizen who now resides in NY, QMJHL)

TJ Oshie (WA, UND) *
Paul Stastny (Born in QC but dual citizen who went to HS in MO, University of Denver)*
Ryan Callahan (NY, OHL)

Taxi Squad:

Derek Stepan* (MN, Wisconsin)
Max Pacioretty (CT, Michigan)

Defensemen:

Ryan Suter (WI, Wisconsin)
Ryan McDonagh (MN, Wisconsin)

Keith Yandle (MA, QMJHL)
Nick Leddy (MN, Minnesota)

Eric Johnson (MN, Minnesota)
Jack Johnson (IN, Michigan)

John Carlson (MA, OHL)

Coaches:

John Tortorella (MA, Maine)
Peter Laviolette (MA, Westfield State)
Scott Gordon (MA, BC)
or
Joe Sacco (MA,BU) (it's amazing how many coaches there are from Boston; oh, and screw Ron Wilson)

Edit: Realize I just overlooked Dustin Byfuglien. Other snubs/possibilities are Blake Wheeler, JVR, Brandon Dubinsky, Brian Boyle, Cam Fowler, Ron Hainsey, Matt Carle, Alex Goligoski, and Brooks Orpik. I intentionally selected puck-movers on the back end because the USA is so big and tough up front.

It wasn't high though. He hit him in the chest and Boyle's head got some follow through contact because Boyle was doing the Eric Lindros Special across the blue line.
