NCAA Regionals

Postby bignick33 on Fri Mar 23, 2012 2:31 pm

I'm killing the end of Friday afternoon by watching Union/MSU on ESPN3. MSU took an early 5 minute major for hitting from behind, and Union has capitalized for a 1-0 lead.

MSU has gotten screwed several times.

The 5 min PP was on a questionable call & a review showed the puck when in a hair after the Union player intentionally knocked the net off

Apparently the rule is that the play should be stopped if the net is uneven; that's a very literal interpretation of the rule because the net eventually sat back down on the mooring, but it was technically correct. Common sense of course dictates that it should have been a goal.

I didn't have that much of an issue with the misconduct to be honest.

WCHA refs, FYI.

Denver has lost, Miami looks done, MSU lost. Looking forward to seeing Michigan/Cornell or part of it before I skate at 10:00 PM.

Miami must hate HE, they are totally inept against these teams in recent NCAA play and about to fall to Lowell. The coach must be very fustrated at this point, especially in 2009 with the meltdown to BU.

It's looking good so far for BC if they can get by their regional. BU, Minnesota, North Dakota and W. Michigan can eliminate each other in their bracket. Wouldn't it be something if W. Michigan came out on top.

With the Michigan loss, that's another potential opponent by the boards who had beaten BC this year. (Denver also eliminated who had beaten BC at Conte) Cornell doesn't have much scoring but they beat Michigan. That's 2 ECAC teams still alive in the tournament.

I went to a place that advertises that they play rugby games on the weeken (ie they have the sports package) and the guy claimed they didn't get ESPNU. I have the basic sports package on RCN and I get ESPNU. In HD, no less.

Oh and that penalty shot call in the Cornell game was beyond retarded considering the guy got a shot off and everything. Doesn't even address about five other terrible calls I saw in the 20 minutes I watched.

So far in my bracket picks, UML and Union came through while Denver and Michigan tanked.

I predict UML over Union, and Ferris State over Cornell today. I don't have much faith in the EZAC teams.

In the other brackets I picked BC over AFA, UMD over Maine

W. Michigan over UND, Minnesota over BU

Now that the Maine fans are out of the picture, hopefully more BC fans show up tonight. I don't expect Maine or BU fans to show up or even cheer for BC. That is expected, I in turn cannot cheer for BU and Maine for the same reason, especially the abuse you get over the years from their fans when going to post season games.

Being an 8:00 PM game on a Sunday night, that will kill many BC fans showing up too.

Why go? When you can watch at home cheaper or even free if you just tried ESPNU for free and then you can stop getting it as long as you call before 30 days to discontinue or cancel that service.
