Worcester Regional

Postby wolverineneshl on Sun Mar 18, 2012 8:13 am

Now that we are in the regional, I'm assuming we get the AFA next Saturday. I will get my tickets at the DCU.

At this point, we should get by AFA and we should not get a letdown like last year, like against CC. Whoever else is in this bracket, we'll know by noontime.

High noon on ESNPU

#1 overall seed will be interesting who they put in our bracket. With these absurd prices I assume another HE team will be there.

Game tix, I think the package is $80+ for 3 games. Which is tough to fork over with not knowing whether your team will play more than 1 game.

Just checked Pairwise. Duluth is number 7, so they didn't screw us as bad as I initially thought, but it will still be a tough game - Maine or Duluth.

Yeah, funny cause if Duluth won the WCHA they would've been the #1 overall seed

Maine will bring a shit ton of fans as well, should be fun.

If you order online, they charge you 12.50 and 2.95 processing fee. So for 2 sets, I will have to pay 27.95 in fees if I order online. I think I will drive over on Monday to pick up my tickets. I think the 2-day package for 1 person is over 80.00 and then they add on the 12.50 fee, so if you buy 2 sets that's 25.00 in fees. Outrageous!

Playing Maine again will be tough and listening to the Maine fans will be too. So I guess it's a tossup who I want them to play if they get by AFA. I know UMD is tough draw too.

BC will probably email season ticket holders today about it, we'll see. Also maybe you can call and have them keep it at will call?

It doesn't matter, they will still charge you 12.50 per set of tickets, even if you pick up at will call.

Thats ludicrous. I was getting Celtic tickets when they were in town 2 years ago and after you added in all the services fees it doe $48. I cancelled the order, took a 15 minute trip to the box office and saved the cash. Its not even the time/money, its the principle. Everything is computerized, you dont need to charge 12.50 a ticket.

I am probably going to get tickets on StubHub. Wait until all the Airforce people want to sell their tickets and then buy them at a discount.

If you're driving out to get tickets at the DCU, they close at 5:30 PM according to the phone answering service.

The other thing is, no matter where you sit, they charge the same price for all seats.

It's so fucking stupid, especially considering the Western Regional Final is at 5:00 eastern time. It's so easy to switch them and have them both start at 5 locally.

Bought through BC today. Which means forking over Sunday's $ without the guarantee. But with all the Mainers rolling their houses down from the north it's simply something I dont' want to deal with.

I hope GDF actually does something productive like he did in 2010 for the students. $30 for a bus ride & tickets to both nights.

You're not going to the basketball at the Garden on Saturday? That's another shitty part of the timing of the games.

Still waiting on timing for Saturday's basketball game but probably not. Figure 4:00 start for BC, 2:30 hour game ends at 6:30, it's about an hour drive I'm making it in to the garden around 8:00?

Yea, plus it would suck if it goes into OT. I decided to skip Saturday hockey and just do Sunday (keeping my fingers crossed that there's not a repeat of last year). On Monday, I will be tired.

The good thing is, assuming we beat the AFA, is we will play a tired Maine or UMD team after they batter each other in the nightcap. This is similar to Maine/BU game in the HE semis where they pummeled each other and BU knocked out one of their best players in Abbott.

I was thinking of driving to the DCU today but I had an 2-hr. meeting after work, so that killed that idea. I ended up buying through BC and hope I get decent seats. It's a shame we're paying the same for all seats when we know some seats are better than others.

I bit the bullet and bought through BC as well.

Apparently :pickle is subsidizing the tickets for the students. $35 for tickets and a bus. Not terrible but apparently there is more demand than supply. Hopefully they can do it for all student season ticket holders, I believe there was 4 buses last time. There was a huge home ice advantage in 2010 at Worcester.

Ok here's some CONTENT, a preview on Air Force -I'll go into personnel maybe tomorrow.

Then won the Atlantic Hockey RS & Tournament, earning the autobid. Atlantic Hockey is the only conference that consistently only gets 1 bid for the tournament and that was the case this year.

Despite this, the conference and Air Force has had much more success in the tournament recently than the ECAC. Last year AF (a 4 seed) took #1 seed Yale to OT in BPT, losing 2-1. In 2010, RIT (again a 4) went to the Frozen Four beating Denver & UNH. In 2009, Air Force upset #1 seed Michigan 2-0 in the 1st round before losing to UVM by 1 the following night. In the words of a mysterious stranger, LA MORAL: Atlantic Hockey earns a 4 seed every year but is rarely an easy out at all.

They were in the Ice Breaker this year with us but we never played. As for common opponents, they lost to NoDak 4-3 (we beat them 6-2), lost to MichSt 3-2 (we beat them 5-2), and lost to Denver 7-1 (we beat them 4-2).

So a quick overview about them on a national level. They are 3rd nationally in defense allowing 2.1 goals per game, we are 5th at 2.2, 13th in offense at 3.1 goals per game and we are 5th at 3.5. Special teams wise, they are very mediocre -32nd in PK at 81.2% and 36th in PP at 17.3%. Special teams could be a huge advantage for us. Since the Beanpot (10 games) we have killed 31 of 32 (97%) penalties while scoring 4 SHGs. In the time frame, our powerplay is operating at nearly 30% and has a goal in all games but 1 where we've had an opportunity.
